You've reached 100!!!

This is my 100th post! So I tought I'd give you an update on my must- see list I gave you last month. These where the films I desperately wanted to see:
- Sunshine Cleaning;
- The Proposal;
- Terminator Salvations;
- Angels & Demons
Well I did OK, because I saw 3 out of 4. I didn't get to see "Terminator Salvations" yet, but I will. I really loved "Sunshine Cleaning" and "Angels & Demons". "The Proposal" was also good, I loved the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, but the ending was a little bit dissappointing. So here is my new list of movies I would really want to see:
- Terminator Salvations;
- The Ugly Truth;
- He's Just Not That Into You;
- Adventureland;
- The Boat That Rocked

Movie Tip #34 - Billy Elliot

Director: Stephen Daldry

Starring: Jamie Bell, Julie Walter, Gary Lewis,

Description: Against the background of an increasingly bitter miners' strike that his elder brother and father are involved in, young Billy Elliot (Jamie Bell) finds he prefers joining in the girls' ballet class at the local hall to the boxing he's there for. The ballet mistress soon realises he has real potential, but no-one, least of all his family, is likely to go along with a lad doing dancing.

Review: It's a heartwarming story of a boy who discovers a true talent and passion in a sport his father doesn't allow him to do. You see how the family struggles with the strike, their mothers death and each other. And Billy is a wonderfull boy, full of life and joy, which comes to his true colors when he does ballet. Fantastic performance by Jamie Bell, who later on starred in "King Kong" and "Hallem Foe". Julie Walters, as the balletteacher, and Gary Lewis, who's Billy's dad, play great roles. A movie you won't forget easily. They even made it in to a musical, so I can't wait 'till it hits theatres in The Netherlands.

The blackbird, the sunflowers and the Eagles

I made three new layouts. The first one is of a young blackbird that visited our yard once. The second scrap is of a set of drawings/ paintings by the kids in my class, based on Van Gogh's painting of the sunflowers. The last one is a layout of my trip to the Eagles concert. I hope you like them.

Movie Tip #33 - Red Eye

Director Wes Craven

Starring: Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy, Brian Cox

Description: This is the story of a young resourceful heroine woman named Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) who hates to fly, but the terror that awaits her on the night flight to Miami has nothing to do with a fear of flying! Upon boarding the plane, Lisa is trapped on a red-eye flight with a creepy villainous handsome and charming man by the name of Jackson Rippner (Cillian Murphy), who's playing middle-man in the plot to assassinate a Homeland Security official. He's got her father pinned down by a would-be killer, using that advantage to coerce Lisa into phoning the luxury resort where she works and arranging to move the target into a pre-set position.

Review: It's a very exciting thriller, that keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. Murphy plays a very believable villian, but most of the credit goes to McAdams. She's a very talented actress and she proves that in this film. I always loved her performance, but this movie is my favourite. The turning point for her character is the bathroom scene, where she tells herself to 'get up'. Wonderfull scene. The fact that she's on a plane and she is stuck in a terrible situation which she can't get out of, makes this movie exciting. It leaves you with a claustrophobic feeling. I really enjoy this film and so should you, so go watcht it.

Long Road Out Of Eden Tour

Yesterday me and my dad went to see The Eagles in concert. They played at the Gelredome Arena in Arnhem (The Netherlands). I had a blast! It was amazing. They played some songs from their latest album, but also the classics. Hotel California, Heartache Tonight, Lyin Eyes, Take It Easy, Take It to the Limit, you name it. They ended the concert with Desperado. The only song that I really missed in their playlist was Last Resort, which is my favourite song, but still... the concert was great. They played a two hour show, with a lot of power. They still got it!!! Oh yeah, and Joe Walsh had the helmet cam on, so we could see ourselfs on the big screen. He's a funny guy.
It was a lot of money, but it was worth every penny. Here are some pictures I made:

Movie Tip #32 - Sunshine Cleaning

Director: Christine Jeffs

Starring: Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Alan Arkin, Steve Zahn, Jason Spevack

Description: Rose Lorkowski (Amy Adams) finds herself a single mother attempting to support her son Oscar (Jason Spevack) and her unreliable sister Norah (Emily Blunt) while working a mundane job as a maid. Once the head cheerleader in school with plenty of prospects, Rose now has little to show for her years, and while she still sees the former lead football player (Steve Zahn), it is little more than a despondent affair. When Oscar is expelled from public school, Rose takes a job as a bio-hazard crime-scene cleaner to help pay for a private education, and brings Norah on to help in her steadily growing business. As the sisters work to clean up the messes left behind by the chaotic lives of others, they must learn to reconcile their own differences and overcome a troubled past if they hope to prosper in their newfound venture.

Reviwe: I was looking forward to this movie ever since I saw the trailer. It's from the makers of "Little Miss Sunshine" which is also a great film. The movie is again very honest and you really like the leading characters. There were some memorable scenes in this movie. The one with the matrass, the moment where Rose and Norah see their mom on TV and when Rose tries to talk to her mom in heaven. I just enjoyed every single minute of it.... Go see it please!

Movie Tip #31 - Juno

Director: David Reitman

Starring: Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney

Description: A tale told over four seasons, starting in autumn when Juno (Ellen Page), a 16-year-old high-school junior in Minnesota, discovers she's pregnant after one event in a chair with her best friend, Bleeker (Michael Cera). In the waiting room of an abortion clinic, the quirky and whip-sharp Juno decides to give birth and to place the child with an adoptive couple. She finds one in the PennySaver personals, contacts them, tells her dad and step-mother, and carries on with school. The chosen parents (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), upscale yuppies meet Juno, sign papers, and the year unfolds. Will Juno's plan work, can she improvise, and what about Bleeker?

Review: Everyone has gone to school with someone like Juno: that smart alec independent tomboy, cute, refreshing & fun to be around but not cool to date or be seen with. Ellen Page does a great job as Juno. I didn't know her before this movie and now I can't get around her any longer. The other actors kind of fade away, but I really liked Alisson Janney as Juno's stepmother. The story is pretty simple, but it's the simplicity that makes this movie work. A story doesn't have to be complicated to be good. I expected a lot from this film and it didn't disapoint me at all!

For luck...

Tommorow he has to play the Wimbledon final against Roger Federer, so for good luck I made a wallpaper. It's on my desktop now. Maybe it helps a little (really?). Here it is and feel free to use it yourself.

Andy in final

Yes, he did it again. Andy Roddick made it to the finals of Wimbledon. Thank God he defeated Andy Murray, because I really think he's an arrogant guy. With the screaming and yelling after every single point. When he broke Roddick's game, he acted like he allready won Wimbledon. Sucker.... The good Andy won this time! And it's going to be the third Wimbledon final for Andy. And that makes it the third time against Federer in that same final. Everyone thinks it's going to be Roger who wins it sunday, so do I. But I'm hoping for Andy. He deserves it and he's my favourite player. The crowd is probably on Federer's side, especially after Andy defeating their Brittish player. But I won't. I will keep my fingers crossed for Andy!!! Go Andy and good luck in the final!
