Description: A great white shark hunts the crew of a capsized sailboat along the Great Barrier Reef.
Review: Five friends are going on a sail trip on the Great Barrier Reef. The boat gets into an accident and capsizes. The climb upon the boat, but realize that the chances of them getting rescued are small. They decide to swin to the shore. But while on their way, a great white shark is circling them.
When you think of shark movies, “Jaws” is the first to pop into your head. It’s probably the only great shark movie ever made. “The Reef” is more like “Open Water”, a survival horror film. That makes it clear that this plot isn’t very original. The execution is okay and it looks very realistic. Problem is that not a lot happens. Maybe in the last half hour there is some excitement here and there.
“The Reef” isn’t groundbreaking and the first hour is a bit dull. It isn’t until the la
st 30 minutes that it gets tense and interesting.
