New musical adventures

My mom and I like to go to musicals, like I once said. We allready have two musicals to look forward to. On november 26th we will go and see "Love Me Tender". A musical with songs by Elvis Prestley. The other one is "The Full Monty" on january 14th. I wrote a review of the movie last monday and I'm a big fan of the film. I'm really excited and very curious about both musicals. The first one will be in november, so we have to wait a while, but I'm really looking forward to it!!

Movie Tip #23 - The Full Monty

Director: Peter Cattaneo

Starring: Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, Tom Wilkinson, Steve Huison, Paul Barber, Hugo Speer

Description: The setting is Sheffield England, once the "City of Steel", home of a massive steel industry and jobs aplenty. Today with the industry in decline and the steelworks closed down there is widespread unemployment and despair. Two unemployed friends (Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy) stumble upon a Chippendales-like show that's very popular with the local women. Eventually they decide they too would like to give it a go, but they can't dance and aren't what most would call good physical specimens. They have their doubts but are determined to give it a shot. On their way they pick up four other unlikely candidates and begin practising for the big night. To drum up interest, they boast they'll go 'the full monty' (a phrase meaning 'all the way' - nude), something they hadn't planned and aren't sure they can deliver. Will they ?, won't they ?, can they keep their antics from their families ?, can they stay out of trouble ? can they pull a crowd ?. All will be revealed, well maybe.

Review: The story itself is a reason to watch the movie. It's a wonderfull movie, made by the Brittisch, who know how to make a good comedy. My favourite scene of the movie is when the men stand in line and the song "Hot Stuff" starts playing on the radio. All of a sudden the guys start practicing their routines, in a sneaky way. It's very funny. There's also a musical version of this film and I'm planning to go see it in January. But for now, I'll watch the film and so should you!!!

Wanted

One of my favourite shows is "Prison Break". I hate the fact that it's going to end, but for now I can still watch 'em here in The Netherlands. This show is so exciting, it makes me nervous every single time. I made a wallpaper with my favourite characters. Here it is, hope you like it:

Raymond Langston: APPROVED

Yesterday I saw the first episode of CSI with Laurence Fishburne as CSI Raymond Langston. In the US they allready aired a long time ago, but here in the Netherlands it happened may 4th. I have to say, I liked Ray from the start. I really enjoyed the scene he had with Nick, where he's trying to find out which powder to use to lift the prints on the doorknob. I thought Hodges was a little arrogant. Like Ray has to impress him. Hodges constantly tryed to show off to Grissom and he's a mayor suck up. Didn't like his attitude at all!.
So to make a long story short, I like dr. Raymond Langston. I'm looking forward to the next storyline and how his character developes.

Picture Perfect

I don't think I ever told you this, but scrapbooking is also a hobby of mine. I like to make a nice page with my best memories. So this time I created layouts for my trip to Movie Park Germany. Three to be exact. Here they are:







Maybe in the future I will share more of my layouts with you. I'm not going to tell you how I did it, because I don't know all the technical mumbo-jumbo scrapbookers use. I just have a lot of fun doing it and I like to create a personal photo album. It's also nice to make gifts for friends or family. I recently made a calender for my friend Evelien and I'm going to give my friend Irene a mini-scrapbook with pictures of our trip to Movie Park.

Movie Tip #22 - V for Vendetta

Director: James McTeigue

Starring: Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, Stephen Rea, John Hurt, Stephen Fry, James Purefoy

Description: In the not too distant future, Britain is filled with torture cells, unfair punishments, prejudice against minorities. However in the mist of all this chaos, one man known only by the name V (Hugo Weaving) dares to stand up to the government and is labeled as a terrorist. One night V rescues a mild young woman called Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman) and an unlikely bond between the two emerges which results with Evey becoming Vs ally. But though V may be charismatic and have a passion for justice he also is bitter and has his own personal hatred of the government for something they did to him long ago. As November the 5th, the day V says he and those who will follow him will stand up to the government once and for all approaches, Detective Finch (Stephen Rea) becomes more and more determined to uncover the truth about V, however his search leads him to ask to question whether or not he is on the right side.

Review: I have the say that this is far out one of the best new movies I have seen over the past five years. It's a bloody masterpiece!!! The character V is very interesting and his quotes are just genious. Hugo Weaving, allthough we never see his face, did a brilliant job portaying him. He created a character you will never forget. I love this man! Natalie Portman is also wonderfull in this film. Especially the scenes where she's in prison. Very intens an believable. The chemistry between those two is absolutely amazing. I've read reviews of people who think it's a bad adaptation of the novel, but these movies are not made for the ones who love the book. They are made for the ones who love movies! So, I highly recommened you this movie, and anyone who tells you otherwise.... don't listen. It's just brilliant!!!

The beauty of animals

Yesterday me and my brother Frank went to the zoo. Safari Park Beekse Bergen to be exact. My dad got the tickets from work and my brother and I decided to go to the park together. I'd rather see them in the wild, but I saw some wonderfull and beautiful animals yesterday. We shot some pictures. Here are some of our best shots:









Especially the tiger picture is great. Alltough it was pretty hot yesterday, we had a great time at the zoo. And we are very happy with the pictures we made!
