TV Show Review - The Book of Boba Fett (Season 1)
Genre: Science Fiction/ Adventure/ Action
The show has a fragmented narrative style. Fett moves into the former palace of the late Jabba the Hutt to run the city of Mos Espa on the desert planet Tatooine. The moments when the fearless Fett takes things in his stride and takes on a corrupt cowardly mayor are interspersed with his backstory. We see how Fett wakes up more alive than dead and seeks refuge with a Tusken tribe, retaliates their brutal slaughter, and recruits Fennec Shand, whom we remember from “The Mandalorian”.
The many flashbacks take place s Fett recharges himself in his bactatank. It results in unfortunate and endless alternations of snippets of his memoirs from the past and macho behavior and competitions to squash the present. Where it’s all supposed to lead becomes clear only when a concrete goal and enemy loom.
Like “The Mandalorian”, “The Book of Boba Fett” comes from the min of Jon Favreau, who has apparently received approval from Disney to work on several Star Wars spin-off series. Understandably so, as “The Mandalorian” was a hit despite its completed missions that always spanned an episode.
This time around, Favreau has a longer story arc in mind, but it will take event the true fan of the Star Wars universe to hold their attention. This all changes when the fifth episodes comes along. Then we get the level we wanted to experience all along. It’s then that Favreau’s larger plan becomes clear.
The last three of the total seven episodes are not only a feast for the eyes, but also a mix of new angles and a feast of recognition. It’s just sad for “The Book of Boba Fett” that the main character hardly had anything to do with the success of these final episodes, because he’s barely in episode 6 and not at all present in episode 5. I think Boba Fett is such a popular character because he is so mysterious and we didn’t know much about him. He is probably not interesting enough to devote an entire TV-show to.
All in all, “The Book of Boba Fett” has a slow start, but eventually redeems itself due to some familiar faces and a great build-up to “The Mandalorian” season 3.
TV Show Review - Murderville (Season 1)
Genre: Mystery/ Crime/ Comedy
“Murderville” works a little better at some moments than others. Some guests break character (Will Arnett also sometimes), which can be distracting. Especially Ken Jeong. Sharon Stone and Kumail Nanjiani are the best at improvising, but Conan O’Brien did a bit of both. And I think he was my favorite guest star. Will Arnett is perfect for the job though. He perfectly navigates between the roles of actor and host. As a viewer, it’s fun to join in, because can also try and guess the culprit. It’s not very difficult though because of the overabundance of clues given.
If you like to tag along in solving a whodunit, “Murderville” is a fun time.

Romance: Barefoot (2014)
The ‘black sheep’ son (Scott Speedman) of a wealthy family meets a young psychiatric patient (Evan Rachel Wood) who’s been raised in isolation her entire life. He then takes the naïve young woman home for his brother’s wedding.
Horror: Truth or Dare (2018)
A harmless game of truth or dare among friends turns deadly when someone begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.
Science Fiction: Star Trek Beyond (2016)
The crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy, who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test.
Crime: American Gangster (2007)
An outcast New York City cop (Russell Crowe) is charged with bringing down Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), whose real life inspired this partly biographical film.
Thriller: Knowing (2009)
M.I.T. professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) links a mysterious list of numbers from a time capsule to past and future disasters and sets out to prevent the ultimate catastrophe.
Documentary: The Tinder Swindler (2022)
Posing as a wealthy, jet-setting diamond mogul, he wooed women online then conned them out of millions of dollars. Now some victims plan for payback.

10s Movie Review - Upgrade
Genre: Action/ Science Fiction/ Thriller
Review: There are very few film in which there are shots that know how to amaze, especially these days. I never expected “Upgrade” to be as good as it was.
For a film that, according to information I found on the internet, the film had a budget of 5 million dollars, which isn’t a lot in the fim world. But there is nothing that suggests tha, because this movie is visually stunning. Logan Marshall-Green is also very good in the film.
The film has excessive violence and contains the necessary humor and is a pleasure to watch. The way the fights are filmed give the film a unique dynamic. The plot revolving around revenge may not be original, but they way the film was executed is. When you put all those element together, it makes it feel fresh. I would chose this over yet another unoriginal remake anytime.

Movie Review - The Tinder Swindler
Runtime: 114 minutes
You can hear Cecilie say “I’d be stupid if I said no”. The Norwegian is so overjoyed by this great date that she hadn’t thought of bad scenarios at all. She does find it a bit remarkable that Simon’s ex and their two-year-old daughter are also traveling to Bulgaria with them. But her answer is still: YOLO. A nice adventure. After a few more dates, bouquets of roses and a shitload of Facetime conversations they make their relationship official. And not much later, Simon asks Cecilie to movie in together. He just can’t go with her to view houses, because of his business trips. It’s admirable how vulnerable Cecilie makes herself by sharing these details, her own naivety and complete Whatsapp history with the world. Especially when things turn around and you discover how Simon, with lies about life-threatening threats, also gets her to wire money to him. A lot of money. Goodbye dream, hello nightmare.
In “The Tinder Swindler” more of Simon’s victims tell their story. And the further you get into the documentary, the more absurd it becomes. The money that Simon extorts from one person, he spends on expensive vacations with another. For a long time, he gets away with it because of the cunning way he takes in his Tinder matches. Everything about this guy seems legit, with fake photos and Google posts confirming his stories. The documentary becomes extra exciting from the moment Cecilie tells the press. This sets in motion an investigation and a series of events through which she comes into contact with fellow victims and the police. Although it turns out to be quite difficult to catch the traveling con man. The Dutch Ayleen Charlotte plays an important role in this, but I will not spoil that.
This is your typical “this will never happen to me” story. This guy knew exactly what he was doing and how to convinces gullible women to send him large amounts of money without asking questions. And he can keep his billionaire, jet-set life.
“The Tinder Swindler” is just under two hours long, but it flies by and doesn’t bore you for a second. The way the timelines and stories of the woman are interwoven, you are eagerly awaiting the denouement. The bizarre ending also makes it clear why it is so important that Simon’s victims share their stories. It’s an absolute must-see documentary.

20s Movie Review - Spider-Man: No Way Home

This, of course, goes disastrously wrong, and the result is that a whole group of villains from other universes (the other Spider-Man movie series) enter the scene. From the Green Goblin to Otto Octavius.
Marvel and Sony flawlessly tap into the nostalgia of a generation that grew up with the Spider-Man films from the early 2000s. And it’s a delight to see some of the villains return. Dr. Otto Octavius is one of them, but seeing him wasn’t that big of a surprise, since he was in the trailer. Electro, who was in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, is a lot more interesting here then he was in the other film. And Jamie Foxx seems to be having more fun too. We also see Lizard and Sandman, who don’t have major roles but are pleasant additions to the group of villains. The real stunner though is Willem Dafoe, who surprisingly returns as Norman Osborne aka The Green Goblin. His maniacal face expressions and laugh really make him the great villain that he portrays in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
The thing I most liked about the film was the return of Tobey Maguire and especially Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man from other universes. It would have been amazing if it was a complete surprise, but social media really ruined that for me with all its spoilers. But it was still a great moment when both of them entered this universe. And can we take a moment to talk about Andrew Garfield. Because, even though he is only in the movie for a short time, he was the highlight for me. I’ve always said he was the best Spider-Man of the three, even with his movies not being the best of the bunch. Garfield has the best comedic timing, he uses his intelligence to defeat his enemies and is the most confident and charismatic of the three. I like Maguire and Holland as well, don’t get me wrong, but I clearly have a favorite. And Garfield’s Spider-Man has a beautiful redeeming moment, where he managed to save MJ, reminding us of the fact that he wasn’t able to save his girlfriend Gwen.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” comes off as surprisingly dark and mature and that makes an impact. But there is still room for some comedy.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the best film in this series, with Tom Holland as Spider-Man, who again does a very good job. The film has a character-driven plot, which I loved, and I enjoyed the returning characters. This movie put a smile on my face.
