I WATCHED THIS MOVIE FOR MY 2020 MOVIE CHALLENGE.
WEEK 40: A MARVEL MOVIE

Description: Following the events in “Avengers: Endgame”, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Review: The number of superhero movies has become so large that it is becoming increasingly difficult to oversee everything. The various reboots that have been presented to the audience in a short time don’t make it any clearer. You have to invest heavily to stay updated and today it’s also a must to see every movie in the MCU, because they interweave and events in one movie will affect another. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is the second part of the second Spider-Man reboot. This movie completes phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Spider-Man: Far From Home” cleverly builds on previous events. Peter Parker, a teenager, is still broken about the death of Tony Stark. The man that made him an Avenger. But Peter needs a break, which comes in the form of a school trip to Europe. He is too busy planning a way to win over MJ’s heart, that he even doesn’t pack his costume. Don’t worry, Aunt May packs it for him. But when they are in Venice, it’s soon clear that Spider-Man has no time for a break. And he meets the local hero Mysterio.
Marvel took a risk by resetting the adventures of Spider-Man for a second time, but also by making Peter Parker a teenager. Tom Holland with his youthful appearance and ditto spirit is cut for the role. He is my favorite Peter Parker. As a young Peter Parker he not only has to play the superhero, but he is also in the middle of puberty and dealing with lots of teen problems. But this is not my favorite series, that’s still the original with Toby Maguire. It feels more authentic and the new series changed way too much, I prefer the old-school Spider-Man.
Which doesn’t mean I don’t like this film. I liked “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and I really enjoyed “Spider-Man: Far From Home”. Mostly because Tom Holland is such a breath of fresh air to watch and he does such a great job as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man.
I liked the villain, although the reveal was a bit predictable. I think everyone knew who it was. The execution of it is really clever and inventive though. And Spider-Man has a serious opponent in him.
Overall, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is a highly entertaining film, with an excellent Tom Holland.

Top 5 Thursday: TV Gal Pals

Well, sisters before misters. I have the two best girlfriends in the world, but what about our favorite friends on TV, the best gal pals? Here is my pick, my five favorite TV gal pals.

5. Robin Sherbatsky & Lily Aldrin (“How I Met Your Mother”)
Lily and Robin are both not the mother in the title, but they are still best friends. As fans we have gotten to see their friendship grow. While Lily has been in a long term relationship with Marshall and Robin has had a couple of boyfriends, the two always leaned on each other.

4. Brooke Davis & Peyton Sawyer (“One Tree Hill”)
From the beginning, Brooke and Peyton have been best friends. Brooke is a popular cheerleader and Peyton started out that way too. But there is more to both of them. Both have artistic qualities, Peyton with music and her art and Brooke in fashion. Although very different from each other in how they look at life, both have relied on each other.

3. Jess Day & Cece Parekh (“New Girl”)
Cece and Jess met as children. They always stayed friends, even when they both chose a complete different path in life. Cece and Jess have been through plenty together and they are overprotective over each other. Cece would never let any guy hurt Jess and Jess helps Cece always making her feel great about herself.

2. Meredith Grey & Cristina Yang (“Grey’s Anatomy”)
Meredith and Cristina have been friends since the first episode. They are each other’s ‘person’. This started when Cristina needed to fill out her medical release forms and she put Meredith down as her emergency contact. There are not mushy about their friendship, but they will always be there for each other.

1. Monica Gellar, Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay (“Friends”)
This is actually a group of six,, but just the girls it’s three. And many people say that three is a bad number in a friendship, but I disagree. I also am part of a group of three and it’s perfect. And Monica, Rachel and Phoebe proof it too. All so different, but understanding towards each other and always there for one another.

They Almost Made the Top 5: Ann Perkins & Leslie Knope (“Parks & Recreation), Penny, Amy & Bernadetta (“The Big Bang Theory”), Aria, Emily, Hanna & Spencer (“Pretty Little Liars”)

Top 5 Thursday: How I Met Your Mother Characters

I love this show and I never did a top 5 or any other item regarding “How I Met Your Mother”. Here are my favorite characters ranked.

5. Lily Aldren
Although she has a cute-like appearance, Lily is far from innocent. She is known to be an extremely sexual person. Lily can also be a rather manipulative person, when she doesn’t approve of something she will go out of her way to change it. Being a kindergarten teacher she has also developed a sense of justice.

4. Ted Mosby
Ted is a hopeless romantic, being a strong believer in destiny and constantly searches for his soul mate. He is an architect and later a college professor. Ted has some annoying flaws like correcting grammar (which I also do) and he can be very whiny.

3. Barney Stinson
Barney is a lady’s man and has no intention of settling down. He is very persuasive, has a somewhat childish personality but also has a more tender and soft side when it comes to his family. His friends think Barney has some unusual and annoying habits, like lame catchphrases, sometimes talking in a high pitched voice and spacing out.

2. Marshall Eriksen
Marshall is very polite, loving, caring and confident, but also extremely emotional. He is very passionate about what he does and cares deeply for his family and friends. Marshall is very superstitious, believes in myths and loves “Star Wars”. I think, of all the characters, I’m most like Marshall.

1. Robin Scherbatsky
Robin works as a journalist and was born in Canada. She is often made fun of because of that and sometimes she realizes she is the only Canadian in the group. Robin has some strange interests, like guns, cigars and dogs. Robin hates nicknames. She is a fiercely independent woman.
