Me & 3 Marion Cotillard Movies

I think the main reason I like Marion Cotillard is that she will sometimes choose big Hollywood movies and sometimes she goes for a smaller film only a few people will see. Cotillard is a very talented and beautiful actress.

Opinion: Sometimes the simplest movies are the most beautiful ones.

Best scene: The final scene, where she feels like she has done everything she could.

Opinion: The movie has beautiful costumes and décor, but the overall story is a bit monotone.

Favorite character: Orlando the Magician/ Emil (Jeremy Renner)

Most memorable quote: “My mother used to always tell me, God's eye is on every sparrow. You've got a right to be happy, Ewa. At least, that's what I think.” – Emil -

Best scene: The moment where Emil first sees Ewa.

Opinion: For me it’s the best movie in the Dark Knight trilogy. Great bad guy and good story.

Favorite character: Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman)

Top 5 Thursday: Movies I Watched for My Challenge (May 2015)

I saw some pretty good movies this month. Many movie too. Here are my five favorites I watched for my challenge this month.

5. The Fault in Our Stars

Sad, sad, sad…. The book already made me cry and I needed more than one tissue for the movie. A really beautiful film that touched me.

 

 

4. Tomorrowland

One big rollercoaster ride, so much fun. I really enjoyed George Clooney and Britt Robertson, together and alone. Fun times!

 

 

3. It Follows

A very creepy horror story, in the style of John Carpenter. Really worth it if you like the genre and especially when you want an original movie.

 

 

2. Mud

It’s so weird, how Matthew McConaughey changed my mind. I didn’t like him at all as an actor a few years ago. Since “The Lincoln Lawyer” McConaughey has become one of my favorites, because he chooses the better film. “Mud” is one of his best.

 

 

1. Deux Jours, Une Nuit

Some movie are beautiful because of their simplicity and maybe that’s my favorite kind of movie. “Deux Jours, Une Nuit” is that kind of movie. Such a simple story executed so well. And Marion Cotillard did a great job too.

Review: A movie doesn’t need a grand and complicated plot to impress. It’s confirmed very convincingly in this socially realistic drama by Belgian brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, “Deux Jours, Une Nuit” . With perfect dialogues and great acting, you’re dragged into the story that could happen to anyone. And exactly that feeling, that it could also happen to you, makes “Deux Jours, Une Nuit” so special.

The employees of Solwal get the following choice: Co-worker Sandra can stay or you get a 1000 euro bonus. The following Monday everyone has to make their decision. Sandra, who is recovering from a depression, has exactly one weekend to convince her co-workers to make the right choice; to let her stay.

The choice between money and helping someone is a well-known dilemma. In “Deux Jours, Une Nuit” the confrontation of this difficult problem is presented to us in an unique way. The intimate scenes are filled with emotion. The movie has a certain tension, when it’s not even a thriller.

Marion Cotillard really impresses. I was already a huge fan of her work and I like the fact she sometimes chooses these smaller films. Cotillard makes Sandra a woman we can all identify with and relate too.

Two days and one night Sandra has to try and convince her co-workers to choose for her staying at the firm. Very subtle emotions, the way everyone responds to Sandra’s request and the reason why they make the decisions they make, it’s all very well done. “Deux Jours, Une Nuit” is an excellent movie, which is beautiful because of its simplicity.
