Netflix Friday - Volume 42

Some Netflix film tips for the weekend! And there is something for everyone, since I picked a movie for all the different genres.
 

Action: 12 Strong (2018)
“12 Strong” tells the story of the first Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11; under the leadership of a new captain (Chris Hemsworth), the team must work with an Afghan warlord to take down the Taliban.
 

Drama: Friends with Money (2006)
After she quits her lucrative job, Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) finds herself unsure about her future and her relationship with her successful and wealthy friends.
 

Comedy: Easy A (2010)
A clean-cut high school student (Emma Stone) relies on the school’s rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.
 

Animation: Sausage Party (2016)
A sausage (Seth Rogen)strives to discover the truth about his existence.
 

Romance: El faro de las Orcas (2016)
A mother with an autistic child travel from Spain to Argentina looking to help her son connect with his emotions.
 

Horror: Don’t Breathe (2016)
Hoping to walk away with a massive fortune, a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn’t as helpless as he seems.
 

Science Fiction: Lucy (2014)
A woman (Scarlett Johansson), accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
 

Crime: The Texas Killing Fields (2011)
In the Texas bayous, a local homicide detective (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) teams up with a cop from New York City (Sam Worthington) to investigate a series of unsolved murders.
 

Thriller: The Da Vinci Code (2006)
A murder inside the Louvre, and clues in Da Vinci paintings, lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years, which could shake the foundations of Christianity.
 

Documentary: Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
College student and tourist Elisa Lam vanishes, leaving behind all of her possessions in her hotel room. The Cecil Hotel grows in infamy.
 

Family: We Will Be Heroes (2020)
When alien invaders capture the Earth’s superheroes, their kids must learn to work together to save their parents and the planet.

Action: Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World (2010)
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil exes in order to win her heart.

Drama: The Social Network (2010)
As Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) creates he social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins (Armie Hammer) who claimed he stole their idea, and by the co-founder (Andrew Garfield) who was later squeezed out of the business.

Comedy: The Mask (1994)
Bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) is transformed into a mani superhero when he wears a mysterious mask.

Animation: The Prince of Egypt (1998)
Egyptian Prince Moses (Val Kilmer) learns of his identity as a Hebrew and his destiny to become the chosen deliverer of his people.

Romance: Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy (Matthe Mcfadyen). But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?

Horror: Devil (2010)
A group of people are trapped in an elevator and the Devil is mysteriously amongst them.

Thriller: Nocturnal Animals (2016)
A wealthy art gallery owner (Amy Adams) is haunted by her ex-husband’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a symbolic revenge tale.

Documentary: The Fear of 13 (2015)
A convicted murderer who has spent 23 years on Death Row tells his story.

Family: Sing (2016)
In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario’s (Matthew McConaughey) attempt to save his theater with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists find that their lives will never be the same.

Top 5 Thursday: Summer Movies I'm Excited About

There are a lot of upcoming movies I’m looking forward to this summer. Here is a list f the five I’m most excited about.

5. The Expendables 3

There is just something about all those muscles in one movie. And this time again, there are new men added to the cast, like Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson.

 

4. Lucy

I just love a kick-ass Scarlett Johansson. The trailer looks stunning. Luc Besson is a fantastic director and I can’t wait to see this film.

 

3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I don’t have to wait that long, because next week it will premiere here in the Netherlands. I can’t wait to see how Cesar and his ape army are going head to head with the humans.

 

2. Guardians of the Galaxy

This looks so awesome, I really want to see it right now!!! It’s highly anticipated and there is a great special about this movie in the new issue of Empire Magazine. That makes it even more interesting.

 

1. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

I is very delayed, we wanted to see this much earlier. I hope it’s worth the wait, because the first “Sin City” was an absolute masterpiece. I’m looking forward to this movie the most.

The Drop
