00s Movie Review - Memento

Director: Christopher Nolan
Genre: Drama/ Crime/ Thriller
Runtime: 113 minutes
Year: 2000
Starring: Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, Mark Boone Jr., Joe Pantoliano, Jorja Fox, Stephen Tobolowsky

Description: Leonard (Guy Pearce) is a man with short-term memory loss and is trying to track down his wife’s murderer.

Review: Leonard Shelby is on the search for the killer of his wife. This search isn’t easy for him, since he suffers from short-term memory loss and can’t make new memories. To remember things, he shoots polaroid photos of important people and objects and writes notes on them. He also collects important facts that he later tattoos on his body. During his hunt for the killer, he gets help from a guy named Teddy, but also a woman named Natalie. But with his condition, it’s really hard to trust people and see if one is lying or not.
The story is pretty basic. It’s the way the story is told that makes “Memento” a unqique one-of-a-kind film. The story is told starting from the end, going all the way back to the beginning. Director Christopher Nolan is really screwing with your mind and us viewers know just as much as Leonard does. Each scene ends with the moment the previous scene starts with. And all the pieces of the puzzle eventually come together. And all though it sounds very confusing and you need to keep your focus, it’s not as complex as it sounds.
“Memento” is definitely one of the most original films I’ve ever seen and after seeing it multiple times you appreciate it more and more. It’s an unforgettable film 😉

Top 5 Thursday: Saddest Deaths on "Sons of Anarchy"

The series finale aired this week and it was epic. I’m sad “Sons of Anarchy” has ended, but I also think it was the right time for it. Some great moments we shared with the guys and we lost some great characters along the way. Here are the five saddest deaths on “Sons of Anarchy”.

5. Bobby Munson (Season 7)
He was probably the most loyal club member of them all. After his finger and eye were taken already, he was shot by August Marks, right in front of Jax and the guys.

4. Otto Delaney (Season 6)
We know Kurt Sutter killed off many people on the show, but the character he portrays himself probably had the hardest role. His life of torture and suffering was ended by a bunch of guards after Otto killed Lee Toric.

3. Wayne Unser (Season 7)
I think everyone expected him to die sooner, because he had cancer. But he made it a long way. He was killed by Jax in the episode before the series finale and I hated that. I really wanted Unser to make it to the end.

2. Juan Carlos ‘Juice’ Ortiz (Season 7)
One of the sweetest characters of the show spend the entire season 7 hiding and running from the club. Juice helped Gemma to cover the murder of Tara. After telling Jax about it when Juice was in jail, he was ready to leave this life. Fellow inmate Tully stabbed him in the neck.

1. Harry ‘Opie’ Winston (Season 5)
Opie probably died in the most brutal way of them all. The fan favourite died in particularly brutal fashion (a pipe to the back of the head) after volunteering to take one for the team. Epecially his best friend Jax, while they are in prison. It was violent. It was devastating.

They Almost Made the Top 5: Half-Sack, Piney Winston (Season 4), Donna Winston (Season 1), Gemma Teller (Season 7) Tara Knowles (Season 6), Jax Teller (Season 7)

Let Freedom Ride

I recently told you how much I love the TV show "Sons of Anarchy". My brother and I are totally hooked on it. I also got the DVD of the first season last thursday and now I thought it was time for a wallpaper. I had the Rachel McAdams wallie on for quite a while, and though she never bores me I thought it was time for something new. So here's my SOA wallpaper. And as always, feel free to use it on your own computer.

Reasons Why I Love Sons of Anarchy

OK, so "Sons of Anarchy" is not your typical girly-show. It's about a motorgang, lots of badasses and violence. But that doesn't mean I can't like it, because I do. It's my latest addiction and I'm always looking forward to the next episode like I did with "Lost" and I still do with "CSI". Here are some reasons why I love this show so much.

# 1. No one's perfect. I think we love the characters more for their flaws than their perfectness. For example Gemma. We love the fact that she takes care of her boys, but we love her even more when she kicks some ass. Or Jax, the loving father, who kills like it's a daily chore. All the character have imperfections, even sweet doctor Tara who didn't think twice when shooting that ATF creep. Even Tig, the craziest guy out there, gets some sort of sympathy.

# 2. The guys! It's nice to watch sweet, caring, clumbsy boys in "Glee", but I prefer a tough guy. Charlie Hunnam is enough eye candy for me to tune in. But we also have Theo Rossi, who playes Juice, far out the hottest guy on the show. But Ryan Hurst and Kenny Johnson aren't all that bad either. No sissy's here. All real menly men.

# 3. Katey Sagal. Isn't she just perfect in her role as Gemma. This is the role of a lifetime. A well deserved Golden Globe she won.

# 4. Even though they do a lot of bad stuff (fighting, killing, selling guns, cheating, you name it), you still root for the SONS. They have a backstory and you sympathize (almost) everyone single one of them.

# 5. The music. Starting with the fantastic theme song by "Curtis Stigers & the Forest Rangers". How cool is that? Together with "Supernatural" probably the show with the best music in it.

If you've never watched the show before, you better start now. You're missing out on a lot, because it's an awesome show. Really worth watching.
