Movies I Watched for My Challenge (August 2016)

A saw a bunch of new one, a few I rated very high. Ntot a lot of classics, that I will save for the month of September. Here are my favorite film for the month of August, that I watched for my challenge.

5. The Gift
A very exciting and surprising thriller, that sadly not a lot of people have seen. Good directorial debut by Joel Edgerton.

4. X-Men: Apocalypse
A very good superhero film, a good continuation of the prequel series. I really liked to see Sansa Stark in this ;)

3. Green Room
A disturbing and violent thriller, not for people with a weak stomach.

2. Little Shop of Horrors
Such a fun musical, with catchy songs and a lot of humor.

1. We Bought a Zoo
I LOVED this film. Matt Damon was really good in “We Bought a Zoo” and I liked him together with Scarlett Johansson. Okay it’s super sweet, but I enjoyed it sooooo much.

Description: Set in Southern California, a father (Matt Damon) moves his young family to the countryside to renovate and re-open a struggling zoo.

Review: Director Cameron Crowe is mostly known for his film “Almost Famous”. “We Bought a Zoo” is his first family film, based on a true story where a widowed man and his two kids move and buy a struggling zoo.
Benjamin Mee doesn’t have a lot of experience as a parent, because for his job as a journalist he was on the road a lot. He quits his job writing and eventually finds a beautiful house that comes with a zoo. And he buys it.
Matt Damon plays the lead and I loved his character. It’s really easy to relate to him, a man just trying to deal with his wife’s death and his kids. Especially his son, who he just can’t seem to reach. Him buying a zoo is part of the process Benjamin is going through. Scarlett Johansson is also good in this film, I also sympathized her character a lot. And the little girl Rosie, so adorable!
“We Bought a Zoo” is such a great film, very underrated. Okay, it’s bittersweet, but who cares. I loved the film and I think everyone should see it sometime. It put a big smile on my face in the end.

Top 5 Thursday: Movie Posters 2011

So many movies come out every year, but it all starts with their trailers and posters. I picked out my five favorite movie posters and I haven’t seen any of the movies…. Yet.

5. The Tree of Life
Although most people love the other poster, with the collage of pictures, I prefer this one. The cute little baby feet in the hands of an adult. It looks so pretty.

4. Another Earth
Great layout. There’s something going on in the background and in the front, without it being too crowded. Perfect balance and it looks beautiful.

3. We Bought a Zoo
This is so my style. This poster is beautiful because of its simplicity. I like the paw prints in the tree, like they are leafs.

2. Tyrannosaur
It’s sober because of the colors, but yet so beautiful. It’s just right, everything about it.

1. Midnight in Paris
The way the air looks like it was painted by Monet. And eventhough part is drawn and part is photographed, it doesn’t look cheap or fake (if you know what I mean). I just love everything about this movie poster.

They almost made the top 5: "Captain America: First Avenger", "The Ides of March" and "Dream House".

The Awakening
