Best of... Meg Ryan

Whatever happened to Meg Ryan? I liked her, the queen of romantic comdies! So it's about time to go by all of her movies and choose her best ones.

"Top Gun"
Yes, Meg Ryan was in "Top Gun". This is really one of those 80's movies only women love, eventhough it's about fighterpilots and every boy wants to become one. Tom Cruise was just irresistible in this film.

"When Harry Met Sally"
This movie is so much fun, it's been too long since I saw it. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan have perfect chemistry, so much humor and off course that diner scene is historical.

"Joe Versus the Volcano"
The first collaboration between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It's my least favorite of the three, but still a great film.

"Sleepless in Seattle"
And then there's the second movie. So sweet... I just love Tom Hanks in this one.

"When a Man Loves a Woman"
This is actually one of my mom's favorite films. She likes Andy Garcia. It's a more serious role for Meg and she does a fantastic job. This is a movie about a man that truly loves his wife, no matter what. Even in the darker days of their mariage. It's all in the title.

"I.Q."
It's about Albert Einstein who wants to help a man get together with Einstein's niece. I have only seen it once, but thinking of it I want to see it again. It was a fun movie.

"Courage Under Fire"
Again a more serious role for Meg. This movie also stars Denzel Washington. That's always good. It's a strong drama.

"City of Angels"
Beautiful lovestory which brought along the best Alanis Morissette song "Uninvited".

"You've Got Mail"
You can say a lot about this film, criticize it all you want. I love this movie. Even if it's outdated now, with today's technology. I like it more then "Sleepless in Seattle". I must have seen this movie so many times, that I an actually quote from it. Call me an idiot, but "You've got Mail" is awesome!

Best of... Heath Ledger

After dedicating "The Many Face of..." to him I realized I never made a best of list for Heath Ledger. So that's why he's in this item now. Here are my favorites of the late Heath Ledger.

"10 Things I Hate About You"
This is one of those teencomedies that's actually good and when I watch it, I don't feel guilty. It's just such a fun film, with some great actors, like Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I can't get enough of this movie. Come to think of it, it's about time I watch it again...

"Monster's Ball"
Only saw it ones and the only thing I remember is that the acting was sublime. Although Halle Berry isn't one of my favorites, in this movie she proved that she is a very good actress. Billy Bob Thornton and Heath Ledger have rock solid roles.

"The Brothers Grimm"
Maybe it's because I like fairytales, especially when they are a bit on the dark side, but I always liked this film. The combo Heath Ledger/ Matt Damon also works. I really enjoy this movie everytime I watch it.

"Brokeback Mountain"
My favorite on this list and in my opinion also Heath Ledger's best role. This movie isn't spectacular, but it's in the details why this film is so fantastic. The chemistry between Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, the beautiful landscapes, the individual characters and the heartbreaking story.

"Casanova"
Call me a hopeless romantic, but this film is just entertaining. And Heath Ledger could be so charming and could sweep any woman of her feet.

"I'm Not There"
A very innovative way of telling a story. Nicely done. Great acting by Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Heath Ledger.

"The Dark Knight"
Heath Ledger portrayed the joker in his own way. Many say it was his best performance ever and he got awarded by the academy for this role. I can agree that his portrayal of the joker is fantastic, but for me this performance is my second favorite.

Best of... Mila Kunis

I love Mila Kunis. She's not just another pretty face and she doesn't see herself as a sex symbol. Mila is very talented, funny and I enjoy watching her films. Here are my favorites.

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall"
If you like Judd Apatow's movies, you like this one too. It's a good date movie, though certainly NOT one for the kids or younger teenagers. And I love Jason Segel and Mila Kunis together.

"Max Payne"
Just a no-brainer I enjoyed.

"Extract"
A light, funny comedy with a very good cast. Especially Kristen Wiig, she's always memorable in her movies.

"The Book of Eli"
I like post-apocalyptic movies, but this is not just another one. It's different, original and surprisingly good. As always Denzel Washington plays a terrific role and the ending twist was great. Love Mila in this film.

"Date Night"
A real funny movie. Although Steve Carell and Tina Fey take the lead, James Franco, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg are the most memorable characters in the movie.

"Black Swan"
Her best role and movie so far. This is a true piece of art and Mila's performance is fantastic.

"Friends with Benefits"
I saw it against my will, but I don't regret it. It's a fun comedy and Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have great chemistry.

"Ted"
This is one of the funniest films I've seen in the last couple of years. It's hilarious, mostly thanks to the voice of Seth MacFarlane as Ted. But both Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg know how to be funny.

Best of... Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg is the living proof of singers who can actually act. He has made some great films over the years and very diverse. Here are my favorites.

"The Basketball Diaries"
A movie about drug addiction, really honest way of telling a story. Mark wasn't known as an actor yet, but that would change after this film.

"Fear"
I always liked this film, Reese Witherspoon's break and William Petersen plays her father. Mark Wahlberg is very creepy in this film, as the obsessive boyfriend David McCall.

"Boogie Nights"
I think this was Mark's break as an actor. "Boogie Nights" is a real cult classic. Not a movie I would usually love, but this is really good.

"The Big Hit"
In this film Mark showed his comedy skills for the first time. This movie really made me laugh out loud. And then his name: Melvin Smiley. Come on.

"The Yards"
The great cast (Mark Wahlberg, Joaquin Phoenix, Charlize Theron, James Caan) looked really promissing. It didn't exactly meet my expectations, but it was worth watching.

"Three Kings"
Although this movie is about the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War, "Three Kings" is an anti war movie. It's about soldiers celebrating its end and then coming to grips with its consequences.

"The Perfect Storm"
Most people think it sucks, but I'm not most people. Sometimes I can like a movie and not care about what other people think of it. I saw it in the theater and I really enojyed it. Very much so!

"I Heart Huckabees"
I basically watched this movie just because my favorite actress, Naomi Watts, was in it. I didn't know that this movie was actually really good. A bit strange and out of the ordinary, but kinda great.

"The Departed"
The best movie on this list and definitely Mark's best role. He plays the best role in this movie, although he's a douchebag. Maybe that's why I liked him so much. And he saves the day eventually.

"The Lovely Bones"
OK, the book was better than the movie. But I do like te movie version too. Mark's role was good, Saoirse Ronan is the real star. Oh, and Stanley Tucci is super creepy.

"Date Night"
Mark's job in this movie is basically to wear no shirt and look pretty. I'm not complaining. He's kind of mocking himself a bit I think. "Date Night" is just a funny, no-nonsense movie. Love that scene with the boat.

"The Fighter"
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! Perfect acting by a perfect cast. All I have to say.

"Ted"
Recently saw it and it's freaking hilarious. Mark's funniest role so far. Great chemistry with Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlane's humor is fantastic!!! I loved "Ted".

Best of... Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell is one of the funniest actors on this planet. He doesn't even have to make an effort to make me laugh, because practically everything he does is hilarious. Here's a list of his best movies.

"A Night at the Roxbury"
This movie is actually really ridiculous, but maybe that's why it's so funny. The two Butabi brothers are a bit retarted and they are so naive. And the Haddaway song is iconic. Maybe not iconic, but it's super awesome in this film.

"Old School"
One of the best comedies ever made. This movie is so funny, especially because of Ferrell. His character Frank the Tank is one of cinema's favorite drunks. Don't you just crack up when he starts singing "Dust in the Wind" or when he does gymnastics? I do, even when I just think about it.

"Elf"
A man who thinks he's an elf... Only Will Ferrell can get away with that sort of nonsense. And it works. At least for me it does.

"Anchorman"
This movie is filled with extravagant characters. Ron Burgundy is so full of himself, he doesn't even realize how arrogant he is and he isn't really talented at all. He just reads of a teleprompter. And I haven't mentioned the weatherman Brick yet. Steve Carell plays this role, which is maybe even more memorable than Ferrell's. A sequel is coming, can't wait.

"Wedding Crashers"
Ferrell only has a small role in this movie, but you do remember that one scene where we meet his character Chazz at his house. Or actually his mothers house. He totally stole that scene.

"Curious George"
One beloved children's story comes to life. It's an adorable movie, that didn't got that much attention, but is definitely worth checking out.

"Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby"
The leading characters name is Ricky Bobby. That alone is funny. Just picture Will Ferrell's face and Sasha Baron Cohen pronouncing the name in a weird way and you have "Talladega Nights". Not very special, but I liked it.

"Stranger Than Fiction"
Again the funny name (Harold Crick), but this time a more serious role for Ferrell. Surprising and I enjoyed it very much. This also works for him.

"Blades of Glory"
I thought Ferrell couldn't be more ridiculous than "A Night at the Roxbury", but this movie proves he can. A movie about two figureskating guys teaming up? And guess what, I thought it was really hilarious!

"Step Brothers"
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly work really well together. We saw it before in "Talladega Nights" and this time as stepbrothers. My favorite scene is where they build bunkbeds.

"The Other Guys"
I didn't think Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell would make a good team, but they did. Great action comedy, with also nice supporting stars Eva Mednes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson.

"Everything Must Go"
Like "Stranger Than Fiction" we get a good mix of drama and comedy. I always love it when directors get it right. Really liked Rebecca Hall. And Will Ferrell is really good too.

Best of... Sylvester Stallone

I rewatched "Cliffhanger" yesterday and that reminded me of how cool Sylvester Stallone is. And he's done so many great films. Here are my favorites.

"Rocky"
This is the best one on the list. My favorite Stallone movie. I love how this is so realistic, especially the ending. And although Rocky doesn't win the fight, he's a true hero.

"Rocky II"
It's a highly entertaining sequel, but not as good as the first one off course. It's a little bit slow at first, but very exciting in the end.

"Victory"
Reviews are mixed, but I always liked this soccer film. Stallone and also his co-star Michael Caine are very enjoyable to watch in this picture. It's a great film in many ways.

"Rocky III"
Rocky has finally beaten Apollo Creed and then comes along Clubber Lang, the number one contender. And Rocky has still got it. The third installment isn't a drag at all.

"First Blood"
Stallone is known for his role of Rocky Balboa, but Rambo is his second most known character. And there is no one else who could have played this part better. Stallone IS Rambo.

"Rambo: First Blood Part II"
Not as loved as the first and it's also not as good as the first, but still a great action movie with a high level of entertainment.

"Lock Up"
I don't think a lot of people know this movie. I think it's an underrated movie. Best acting is not by Stallone though, it's the sadistic prison warden portrayed by Donald Sutherland.

"Tango & Cash"
Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone are the reason why this run-of-the-mill action flick actually works. There's nothing innovative or special about the film, it's nothing we haven't seen before. But the film is entertaining as hell thanks to it's two stars.

"Oscar"
I hear you thinking: "What the hell is this doing on your list"? Well, I can explain that. I think this movie is simply hilarious and should get more credit. It's really funny and Stallone can be funny. Just give me a break will ya?

"Cliffhanger"
I just rewatched it yesterday and it's still super awesome. Maybe a little over-the-top sometimes (very clever for a mountain climbing movie), but it's a very good movie and highly enjoyable. And John Lithgow is a very believable bad guy.

"Demolition Man"
You know that there is always this movie that, no matter how many times you've seen it, you always watch it when it's on TV. Well that's what "Demilition Man" is to me. Everytime I watch it, I don't think I ever skipped it. It has action and humor in it, and so many memorable moments. I love it whenever you swear this alarm goes off and you get a ticket and off course the three shells on the toilet that John Spartan doesn't understand. Don't role your eyes, "Demolition Man" is awesome!

"Assassins"
Also a movie I watched many times. Very exciting movie, I like Stallone and Banderas opposite of each other. This movie is action packed and definitely worth watching for any fan of action movies. I'm surprised to see how low the rating is on IMDB.

"Daylight"
Again a Stallone movie I find hard to skip. And this one also doesn't get a very high rating. I guess the people on IMDB don't think that highly of Mr. Stallone. I know this movie has a lot of clichés, but still it's entertaining. Stallone does his job, he saves the day.

"Copland"
A movie with a great cast. And this movie gets better the more you watch it. At first you think it's just OK, but now I actually think it's a really good movie with great performances.

"Rocky Balboa"
This is my second favorite "Rocky" movie. I didn't think much of it when it came out. Another film about Rocky Balboa, rwho needs it? But it surprised me, in a good way, because I think it's great. And again very realistic.

"Rambo"
I had the same feeling about this one, didn't really expect much and wasn't waiting for another "Rambo" movie. But this also surprised me. Maybe even the best one in the series. Sylvester Stallone isn't too old for this shit yet.

"The Expendables"
Hell yeah!! When you love action, you get everything you want with this film. Stallone, Statham, Willis, Schwarzenegger, Lundgren, Li and Rourke all in one movie. Insane!!! Can't wait to see "The Expandables 2", where they added Norris, Van Damme and Hemsworth.

Best of... Denzel Washington

I can't believe I never made a best of list for Denzel Washington. Maybe I knew that this list was going to be long, because you know when Denzel is involved that the movie is probably awesome. So here are my favorite Denzel Washington movies.

Cry Freedom
The film based on the nonfiction book by the same name tells the story of Stephen Biko, a black South African political activist who understood the inherent dangers in being an activist but lived by the creed that a man has to do what a man has to do. He is befriended in respect and admiration by a white American journalist, Donald Woods. Their two stories are equally important because of the consequences of their actions. Denzel Washinton performs the role of Biko as if he was Biko, I was that convinced.

Glory
A true story of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the story of the first black unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Great performances by Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Matthew Broderick.

Ricochet
This is a very solid action thriller. Great acting by Denzel Washington, as the hero, and John Lithgow as the despicable villain.

Malcolm X
The story of the mans religious beliefs and strong heart was inspiring and a story that showed you can really achieve anything if you set your mind to it. I'd be lying if I did not say this is excellent.

Philadelphia
Two of the finest actors team up and give away a brilliant show. Hanks even won an Academy Award for his performance. It's a sad film and it's gripping and compelling.

Crimson Tide
"Crimson Tide" is a high tension thriller and probably the best submarine movie ever made.
Fallen
This movie was a bit overlooked, but it's all kinds of awesome. I liked the atmosphere in the film and the suspence and it has a good plot.

The Bone Collector
Denzel proves something here. Without hardly moving a muscle, Washington still grabs us with his acting. And he has good chemistry with Angelina Jolie. Exciting film, strong thriller.

Remember the Titans
I recently watched this with my class on the school I work. They found it as inspirational as I did. And all thanks to Washington's character Coach Boone, who unites black and white football players as one.

Training Day
The movie is very good, but Denzel Washington's performance is even better. This man can do anything!

John Q
John Q is a man who does a desperate thing when he finds out his kid is going to die if he doesn't do anything. But this man is my hero anyway. He does everything in order to save his son and that's a great father.

Man on Fire
The plot seems simple and unoriginal. This is so much more. It's a realistic story, with strong characters and top class acting. Washington and Fanning are wonderfull (together and apart). The story is suprising and mind-blowing.

American Gangster
It's a long movie, but that doesn't bother me at all. Washington and Crowe play their parts well.

The Book of Eli
It's a post-apocalyptic tale, where a lone man fights his way through America and protects a sacred book. The ending is pretty surprising. I really enjoyed this film.

I knew this list would be long and I could be a lot longer. But I really had to make a selection of favorites. None of his movies are bad...

Best of... Amy Adams

Amy Adams appears in more movies and everytime I love her a little more. From supporting and meaningless roles, she grew out to be a fantstic leading lady. Here are my favorite Amy Adams movies.

Catch Me If You Can

Amy played the girl that Frank Abagnale Jr. almost married. How adorable was she with the braces? "Catch Me If You Can" has always been one of my favorites, a movie I always watch when it's on TV.

Junebug

It's just a small film, overlooked by many, that should be getting a lot more attention. It's such a great film, good performances and a even better characters.

Enchanted I think this was Amy's big break. Overacting is annoying, but in this film it's perfect! I love Disney and again they pulled it off to make a fantastic, loveable movie. With sing-a-long songs.

Charlie Wilson's War

Not one of Hanks' best movies, but it does deserve a place on Amy's list. Just a very solid movie, with strong performances.

Sunshine Cleaning

Again a movie that didn't get the attention it deserved. "Sunshine Cleaning" is such a heartwarming film, with a perfect balance between comdey and drama. This movie manages to make me laugh and cry, but not too much. Then you know it's prefect.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

The third movie on this list that was kind of ignored. The best thing about this movie is the duo Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. They work together perfectly. Lovely movie.

Doubt

Not a very spectacular movie, but it's about the story and the characters in this film. Three great actors; Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams. The ingredients that makes this film so good.

Julie & Julia

I really love the concept of this film. A woman decides to write a blog on how she's going to cook all of Julia Childs' recipes. This is a highly enjoyable movie and a true delight.

Leap Year

Normally I don't go for those movies, but somehow Amy gets away with it. She was actually the only reason I watched it in the first place and it was actually a really fun movie. I loved her together with Matthew Goode.

The Fighter

Amy's best role so far. Also a perfect performance by Christian Bale, who finally got recognition for his acting by winning an Oscar. Just like Melissa Leo. The film is great, but the performances are even better.

 

The Muppets

I love the Muppets, I love Jason Segel and I love Amy Adams so really nothing could go wrong. Everything about this movie is just great and I really enjoyed every minute of this movie. LOVE IT!

Best of... Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy is such a funny actor and I think he had his best years. So many people critize him nowadays and I decided to spotlight his best movies. Here are my favorite Eddie Murphy movies.

48 Hrs.
A great buddy cop movie and I just love that scene where Eddie Murphy starts singing Roxanne by Sting.

Trading Places
One of the better 80's comedies. Great combo of Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd.

Beverly Hills Cop
The first time Eddie Muprhy as detective Axel Foley. I think this is a role Murphy should be reminded by. His best role so far and very memorable. I love Axel Foley.

The Golden Child
People, why don't you just appreciate this movie? It is so enjoyable and hilarious. You really shouldn't take it that seriously and it's actually one of my favorite by Eddie Murphy.

Beverly Hills Cop 2
Again as Axel Foley and a good sequel.

Coming to America
This movie is especially very funny because it's from the 80's. With that hairgel or hairspray commercial that's on all the time. And Eddie Murphy is super hilarious as Prince Akeem. And I really liked Arsenio Hall.

Boomerang
I remember that when this movie came on TV for the first time, it was on almost every month. I saw this so many times back then. Now, it's been a while and I only remember that Murphy's character walways looked at the girls toenails when they were in bed.

Beverly Hills Cop 3
This is better than people think. I still love Axel Foley and I maybe like this movie even more than the other two. I know, it's not better but it's so much funnier. That scene where Axel accidentaly ends up on stage with the Wonderworld characters. That's just hilarious. I always watch this movie.

The Nutty Professor
This was fatguy humor before it became nasty and distasteful. I liked Sherman Klump.

Mulan
It's not one of my favorite Disney movies, but it's a Disney movie and they hardly ever disappoint. Murphy's character Mushu is adorable.

Dr. Dolittle
Funny concept, a guy that can talk to animals. That Spanish ape is the first thing that popped in my head while thinking of this movie.

Shrek series I'm not going to discuss all the different movies, I just love Shrek. Maybe it's me but Pinocchio is my favorite character, but I also love Fiona and Donkey. I like how they made fairytales hip again, in stead of dull and dusty.

I Spy
Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson are a cool duo. Our own Famke Janssen adds a little spice to it and you have a great action/ comedy combo.

Dreamgirls
A more serious role and I really adore this film. Especially Jennifer Hudson is fantastic, although an Oscar was maybe a little bit over-the-top, but her performance was great. This was Eddie Murphy's last movie worth watching.

Best of... Emma Stone

I love Emma Stone and I've seen many of her films already. SO it's time to make a list of her best movies. Here they are.

Superbad
I'm not a big fan of Jonah Hill, but Michael Cera is such a dork that it's hard to not love that guy. The same goes for Christopher Mintz-Plasse. And Emma Stone as Jonah Hill's love interest. She actually makes it believable.

The House Bunny
It's so ridiculous and I like Anna Faris for her ridiculous humor. Just a fun and enjoyable no-brainer.

Paperman
This movie is quite amazing, eventhough hardly anyone has seen it. From beginning to end the movie is touching and full of sublime humor. Sometimes happy, and sometimes sad, the emotional weight leaves you feeling for all of the characters. Jeff Daniëls and Emma Stone show a great performance and Ryan Reynolds appearance always puts a smile on my face.

Zombieland
How awesome is this movie. Another nerd Emma attracted here. Zombie movies are fantastic, especially with a big dose of humor. And not just Emma Stone is great. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin and a cameo by Bill Murray! It can hardly get any better then this.

Easy A
This movie rocks. I have a girl crush on Emma because of this film. Emma Stone is so great as Olive, great humor and don't you love that scene where we see how Olive really spend her weekend. One of my favorite movies.

Crazy, Stupid, Love
Ever since I saw its trailer, I wanted to see it. A great cast, with Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei. This movie is bittersweet, emotionally uplifting and distinctly hilarious.

The Help
This movie is just amazing. I read the book and saw the movie almost at the same time. Emma Stone is fantastic, but not even the best in this film. Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Bruce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain; all wonderfull. Just a brilliant ensemble carried by the ladies.

I can't wait to see "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Gangster Squad" where she again stars opposite Ryan Gosling.

Best of... Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson is a joy to watch. He's funny, charming and he can have this sweet innocent look where he spouts his lips. I've seen many of his films and here are my favorites.

"The Cable Guy"
He only has a small role in it, but this movie is so hilarious that I had to put it on the list. Remember, he plays the dude Leslie Mann's character dates and then he is beaten up by Jim Carrey in the bathroom. We've got to thank Carrey for the fun moments.

"Armageddon"
I discovered Owen Wilson was in this movie after watching it for the third or fourth time. There's not much to it, it's just great action and a lot of spectacle. That works for me when I'm in the right mood. The moment where Bruce Willis' character dies crushes me everytime.

"Shanghai Noon"
Western isn't my favorite genre, but for some reason me and my mom always watch this film and laugh out loud at the same jokes over and over again. This movie never bores me and the duo Jackie Chan/ Owen Wilson just works perfectly.

"Meet the Parents"
The first movie in this series was fun. It all went down hill from there. The scene with Robert De Niro questioning Ben Stiller while wired to a lie detector is most memorable. And I love Mr. Jinx, the cat that goes to the toilet.

"The Royal Tenenbaums"
A weird family and also a pretty strange film. The black comedy counterbalanced with the drama of the issues raised in this film left me feeling like I'd witnessed a film event, rather than just another film.

"Behind Enemy Lines"
With this movie Owen proved he wasn't only just a funny guy. You actually take him seriously as an actor while watching "Behind Enemy Lines". Very solid performance and an exciting movie.

"I Spy"
Owen Wilson together with Eddie Murphy, that just has to work. Not a very special film but I always liked it. Enjoyable.

"Shanghai Knights"
Not as hilarious as the first one, but still extremely funny. And also a movie I almost always watch when it's on. I especially liked the references they make to for example Sherlock Holmes, Charlie Chaplin and Jack the Ripper.

"The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou"
It's fun, imaginative and tragic. Not everyones taste but just appreciate it for what it is.

"Wedding Crashers"
I've watched it many times and I still love it. Vaughn and Wilson are a great duo and I also enjoy watching Wilson together with Rachel McAdams. They have great chemistry.

"Cars"
Disney Pixar movies hardly turn me down, even if they are about cars which I know practically nothing about and never interest me in real life. Lightning McQueen is a hero to the little boys in my class and he's voiced by Owen.

"Nigh at the Museum"
When I saw this film in the cinema I thought: "Finally, an original movie again". It really was. Great entertainment, humor, action.

"Marley & Me"
My second favorite on this list. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston both touched my heart with this movie and I love it to death. I also read the book, which made me cry just as hard. Owen and Jen are awesome and Marley.... I love that guy.

"Midnight in Paris"
This is my favorite Owen Wilson movie. This is just a piece of art. How creative was Woody Allen when he made this movie? I love Paris and I love Owen's character Gil Pender. I also liked seeing Rachel McAdams in a different role and together with Owen again. LOVED IT!!

Best of... Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman started acting at a young age and luckily for us she wasn't just another child star. She grew out to be one of the best actresses of her generation with an impressive resumé. Here are my favorite Natalie Portman movies.

"Léon"
This stark portrayal of humanity and inhumanity is produced with the style and finesse that one expects from Luc Besson. The combined talents of Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman provide not only an unmatched on-screen chemistry, but also three perfectly created characterizations

"Heat"
Pacino and De Niro is a duo that everybody wants to see on screen. The only screentime they have together isn't even that long, but both performances are magnificent. It's an exciting thrill ride of good versus evil and mind-blowing visuals.

"Mars Attacks!"
This is one of those movies you either love or hate. I like this film maybe because it's so absurd and idiotic. Stuffed with a lot of famous actors, just hilarious and maybe a bit misunderstood. Really people, don't take this movie too serious.

"Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace"
Episode 1 till 3 aren't as good as the other three "Star Wars" movies, but out of those three this is the best. It is solid but has its flaws.

"Cold Mountain"
This is a very good film, tragic and sad, about people with clear hearts. The acting cast are impressive especially Jude Law, Renee Zellwegger and Natalie Portman.

"Garden State"
Don't tell a fan of "Garden State" that it isn't a good movie. They say the film defines their generation. I kinda grew on me too and I have to thank Zach Braff for that.

"Closer"
Natalie Portman and Clive Owen are the stars in this film, even more than leading actors Julia Roberts and Jude Law. And Owen and Portman are also a fabulous on screen duo.

"V for Vendetta"
My absolute favorite Portman movie. This film is powerful; mostly because of how different it is from every other blockbuster. Set in a possible future where America is in ruins and England is ruled by a totalitarian dictatorship. The well choreographed action sequences keep the pace of the film high. And both Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman are fantastic.

"The Darjeeling Limited"
Just a brief cameo for Natalie but it's such an expansive, random, happy, sad, funny, stupid, and wise trip that these 3 brothers take.

"The Other Boleyn Girl"
The book is better, but I've always been a fan of the film as well. Especially Portman's role as the backstabbing and vicious Anne Boleyn is impressive. Great chemistry with her on-screen sister Scarlett Johansson.

"Hesher"
Dark. Very, very dark, profane, vulgar, raw and rough. These words popped in my head while watching it. Good movie!

"Black Swan"
Her best performance so far. I love the transformation of Nina. With this film Natalie proved that she's definitely an A-lister. Mind-blowing performance and a creepy good story.

"You Highness"
OK, again not a movie that you should take too seriously. I really liked it though, although it got a lot of negative reviews. Perhaps it was because of Natalie Portman, who did give her best (and because of James Franco, it's never a punishment to watch him in a movie).

Best of... James Franco

The first thing you see are off course his good looks, but when you focus, James Franco is a fantastic actor with some wonderful films on his résumé. Here are my favorite James Franco movies.

"Never Been Kissed"
I didn't even know he was in this movie after watching it for the third time. James doesn't have a big role though. I love this movie, such a sweet film and Drew Barrymore rocks!

"Spider-Man"
He initially auditioned for the role of Peter Parker, but I think Harry Osbourne suites him better. Great comic-book adaptation.

"Spider-Man 2"
This is concidered the best in the trilogy. I think I agree. The villain is certainly more interesting. Great job by Alfred Molina. The triangle Maguire, Dunst and Franco also works perfectly.

"Tristan + Isolde"
Beautiful lovestory. I really enjoyed this movie a whole lot. I always seem to enjoy movies or stories about forbidden love. Great chemistry between Sophia Myles and James Franco.

"In the Valley of Elah"
This movie is basically great because of its strong cast. Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron, Susan Sarandon. James only had to make a small effort, but I remember him. I especially liked Theron in this movie. She proved again why she's one of my favorites.

"Pineapple Express"
How awesome is this. I recently rewatched it and it's so much fun. I love the combination of James Franco and Seth Rogen and their humor is hilarious. Saul Silver is one of the dumbest but funniest characters.

"Nights in Rodanthe"
I seriously didn't know that he was in this movie, while I was watching it. SURPRISE! I always like Nicholas Sparks stories, so I enjoyed this one as well.

"Milk"
Fantastic performance by Sean Penn, he really deserved that Oscar. Great story and so perfectly told by Gus van Sant. Other great performances by James Franco, Emile Hirsch and Diego Luna.

"Howl"
James Franco's performance is better then the movie itself, but worth putting on this list anyway.

"127 Hours"
His best movie so far and also one of the best performances I've seen the last ten years. Franco gives away a perfect one-man show and this movie kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

"Your Highness"
A lot of people critized it, but I liked it. It's a bit ridiculous, but maybe that's why it's so much fun. All actors seem to 'overact' a bit, maybe Natalie Portman was the only one perfoming at her best, but still... I just like "Your Highness".

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes"
Surprisingly good! Never thought I would love it this much. The kudos go to Andy Serkis, as chimp Ceasar. What a fantastic role. This movie actually made me think and see again how cruel people can be.

I haven't seen "The Broken Tower" yet and it seems that James Franco has to work very hard. He has like 10 projects upcoming! Hell yeah!

Best of... Famke Janssen

Famke Janssen is a Dutch actress, so as a Dutch woman I should be proud of this fantastic actress. That's why I decided to dedicate this item to her. Here are my favorite movies of Famke Janssen.


"GoldenEye"
I'm not a James Bond fan (only if it's Daniel Craig who's too hot to pass on) and Famke Janssen was the only reason I actually watched this Bond movie. And as Xenia Onatopp she also steals the show. One of the best Bond-girls ever.

"Deep Rising"
OK, maybe not Oscar material but so entertaining. And this movie doesn't take itself so seriously and is freakin' hilarious. I really like "Deep Rising".

"Rounders"
Solid movie about a not so interesting sport: poker. Good chemistry between the actors and very enjoyable.

"The Faculty"
I love this movie. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and with a great cast. A high school movie with the stereotypical character, but without the standard teen-movie recipe. I've seen it many times, I haven't seen it in a while though.

"X-Men"
One of my favorite superhero movies. This comic book was a perfect format for a movie and it turned out great. Great casting and very entertaining.

"Don't Say a Word"
An interesting kidnap story. Sean Bean always plays a believable villain and Michael Douglas usually plays roles that keep the audience's attention. The almost- two hours go by pretty quickly. The whole cast, actually, pretty good with no one person standing out.

"I Spy"
Basically funny because of Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy, especially in combination. Not a movie that a lot of people will remember, but definitely worth watching.

"X2"
Another X-Men movie, not as good as the first, but still great. I really like Famke with Hugh Jackman. And I like all the new mutants introduced in this film.

"X-Men: The Last Stand"
The final movie in the trilogy. Still not as good as the first, but better than the second. Again new characters introduced. This was a great ending for a trilogy.

"Taken"
Liam Neeson is the real star in this movie, how awesome is he? It's an exciting movie, keeps you on the edge of your seat and takes your breath away. Very strong performance by Neeson, can't wait to see the sequel.

Best of... Jude Law

I recently saw "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and although I prefer Robert Downey Jr. I decided to make a best of list for Jude Law.

"The Talented Mr. Ripley"
I especially love the combination of Matt Damon and Jude Law. Damon's Ripley adores the life of Law's character Dickie Greenleaf. Just fine performances by the two men and a great story.

"Enemy at the Gates"
A gritty and realistic portrayal of one of the worst battles in the history of war. There are so many war movies, this is one of the best.

"Artificial Intelligence: A.I."
The movie is a bit odd, but it really surprised me. Haley Joel Osment as the little robot boy was deeply moving, although I think he also creeped som people out.

"Road to Perdition"
While making this list, I almost forget to put this one on it. Yes, Jude Law plays Harlen Maguire, the guy trying to kill Michael Sullivan. This is an overlooked film that didn't get the credit it deserved.

"Cold Mountain"
Not a big fan of Nicole Kidman, but that's just how much I liked Jude Law and Renee Zelweger in this film. It's a very beautiful story, an entertaining movie.

"I Heart Huckabees"
This is one of the weirdest movies I've seen. It's not a standard story and the characters are pretty strange. But because it was so freaky, I liked it even more.

"Closer"
Clive Owen and Natalie Portman are the true stars in this film and they're just the supporting actors. Their acting was stunning. Jude Laws performance was very solid and I liked him together with Nathalie Portman.

"The Aviator"
Jude Law is in this movie too. He plays Errol Flynn. Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayel of Howard Hughes is brilliant. Not the best Scorsese movie, but definitely worth watching.

"Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events"
I love the books, and I really liked how they brought it to life. Jude Law provides the voice-over as Lemony Snicket. Great, absurd story.

"Sherlock Holmes"
I fell in love with this movie. Like I said before, Robert Downey Jr. gets my preference. How awesome is he as Sherlock? Guy Ritchie made a great choice, also for picking Jude Law for the role of Watson. Charming as ever. And Robert had perfect chemistry with Rachel McAdams, whom I adore as well. Love this movie!

"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"
I can't say which of the movies is better. Watson's role in this one was a bit big bigger and more important. And I loved the scenes with the hedghog goulash and Sherlock on the horse. I seriously can't decide which one is better. Guy Ritchie did a great job, again.

Haven't see "Hugo" and "Contagion" yet. Probably will someday.

Best of... Helena Bonham Carter

She might be a little weird, but maybe that's what makes her so good. She's made some great films and here are my favorites of Helena Bonham Carter.

"A Room with a View"
Beautiful cinematography, an awesome adapted script, and a tale of oppressed desire during the paradigm shift from the repressive Victorian age to the more liberal Edwardian time.

"Howards End"
Practically every actor in this movie gives away an almost perfect performance. I never read the novel though.

"Fight Club"
This is a fantastic film and probably one of the best ever made. Again great performances and a brilliant ending. I like all three characters, not because they are so nice. Becaise they where perfectly executed.

"Big Fish"
This movie is just a picture book coming to life. I love the storytelling and how Tim Burton brought it all to life. It's beautiful and heartwarming and I love everything about it.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Most people don't like this remake, but I do. I miss the original Oompa Loompa's though, but that's all. I really loved how Burton recreated the factory and the casting was very well done.

"Corpse Bride"
The story is very macabre, a man getting married to a corpse. But it is so entertaining and shot like "A Nightmare Before Christmas" was also shot. Fantastic, great atmosphere.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"
She plays Bellatrix Lestrange and with that my favorite villain from the series, if you don't count Voldemort off course. I like this film because Harry and his friends are making their own plans, but I found it so sad that Sirius Black died.

"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber on Fleet Street"
I like musicals and I think this was different from most, because it was so dark and grim. Mostly because of its theme: a serial killer. Helena fits right in.

"Terminator Salvation"
Not the best one in the series, but I really loved the addition of Christian Bale as John Connor and I liked Sam Worthington. Helena's part is really small, so it's no specificaly good because of her.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"
Again a great performance as Bellatrix Lestrange. This role was made for her.

"Alice in Wonderland"
I think it's a bit like "Big Fish": This whole fantasy world comes to life. It's not favorited as much, but I really do like it. It's all so colorfull and amazing.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2"
The final battle. It wasn't the end of an era for me, because I do have a life. But it was kinda sad knowing that the series ended and we couldn't expect another book or movie. A lot of questions where answered and a lot happened in the last two movies.

I haven't seen "The King's Speech" yet. I'm not sure if I ever will, because I'm still mad that Colin Firth got the Academy Award and not James Franco.

Best of... Tom Cruise

When I was a teenager, Tom Cruise was THE guy for me. I loved him. The whole scientoligy crap was a big turn off for me. But still, deep inside, I like watching his movies and he has some good ones too.

"Risky Business"
I think everyone's favorite moment in the movie is when Cruise starts dancing and singing, while wearing just a white blouse. That was so cute and hot at the same time.

"Top Gun"
A movie about a fighter pilot, but mainly women like this film. And OMG what was Tom Cruise a dreamguy in "Top Gun". The storyline wasn't very special, the movie was just very entertaining.

"Rain Man"
Dustin Hoffman is the scene stealer, because his role is so strong. I really love this movie and Cruise and Hoffman were a great match for this film.

"Born on the 4th of July"
I think this is my favorite. Cruise's role is so intense and his acting is so convincing. In my fan days I watched this movie so many times, I could almost dream it.

"A Few Good Men"
Not a very spectacular movie, besides that one memorable quote by Jack Nicholson, but it's a very solid thriller/ drama.

"Interview with the Vampire"
Although vampires used to scare me, I like 'em more than before. Cruise plays the evil vampire and he does a fabulous job. He's very scary and believable as a bloodsucker. And the story is just very interesting and the atmosphere is perfect for a movie like this.

"Mission: Impossible"
I was so excited when this movie came out. Seeing Cruise as an action hero was such a big thing for me back in the days. I still like "Mission: Impossible", it's perfect entertainment.

"Jerry Maguire"
My favorite character Cruise ever played was this one. Although Jerry starts out as a selfish and arrogant man, he ends up being the perfect guy. I literally wanted to marry him back then. I'm over that now, but I still love this movie. Hopeless romantic...

"Magnolia"
I like movies with multiple storylines. This is such a fantastic film, great characters and I liked Cruise in his bad boy role. So different from previous roles and he got credit for it by being nominated for an Academy Award.

"Minority Report"
Very original and solid film. Well done.

"Collateral"
Again a bad guy role for Cruise and again a very good performance. "Collateral" is a very good thriller and it's very exciting. I liked Cruise in combination with Jamie Foxx.

"War of the Worlds"
When I saw it in the cinema, the sounds the tripods make freaked me out. It was so scary, because you just don't want to imagine yourself in a situation like that. The movie got mixed reviews, but I liked it right away.

"Tropic Thunder"
This movie is hilarious, because it's ridiculous in a way. Great cast off course: Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black. Tom Cruise plays this weird guy named Len Grossman. You hardly recognize him, but he's funny.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" just came out and "Rock of Ages" looked pretty good as well.

Best of... Jodie Foster

Jodie Foster is ready for every role. She started acting when she was very young and now she has an incredible list of great movies. Here are her best so far.

"Taxi Driver"
Her big break. She played a young prostitute who befriended De Niro's character Travis Bickle. "Taxi Driver" is one of the best movies ever made.

"Freaky Friday"
The original version from 1976 off course, forget the remake with Lilo. Not that this one is such a brilliant film, but way more fun than the second try.

"The Accused"
Although you don't sympathize her character from the beginning, what happens to her is heart-ripping. So cruel, chilling and wrong. Jodie won an Oscar for her role and that's well deserved.

"The Silence of the Lambs"
Her best movie and I don't think she can ever top that. Based on a novel by Thomas Harris and such a great movie. The scene between Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter are most memorable. And how creepy is Buffalo Bill? Again an Oscar for Jodie.

"Nell"
Another fantastic performance by Jodie Foster. I haven't seen this movie in a while but I always loved it. It's just amazing how Jodie van get lost in her role so well. By the way, my mom can immitate Nell.

"Contact"
About a woman who is trying to intercept an alien message. The movie has its flaws, but overall it's pretty good. One of the flaws: Matthew McConaughey...

"Panic Room"
What appealed to me the most is the way this movie was filmed. Great cinematography. And with that the film is very exciting, I can watch it over and over again and still feel the same tension.

"Flightplan"
The movie reminded me a bit of "Panic Room". She loses her daughter on a plane and than people tell her the girl was never on board. It's basically Jodie who does the work here.

"The Brave One"
Oh how I loved this movie. Her character is super strong and I really admired her bravery. Jodie is fabulous as Erica Bain. Great movie, great performance.

"Nim's Island"
I always like childrens adventure stories. They open up a whole new world for us adults. Jodie was so over-the-top funny, I really liked seeing this other side of her. And Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler are amazing too.

I haven't seen "The Beaver" (and probably won't, because it looks ridiculous) and I'm really looking forward to seeing "Carnage".

Best of... Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford portrayed my all-time favorite movie character Indiana Jones. But he's more then that. Here are some of Ford's best movies in my opinion.

"American Graffiti"
Maybe this was the start for all the succesful (and less succesful) teen movies that followed. A lot of movies within the genre were inspired by "American Graffiti", so it must have been good.

"Star Wars IV - VI"
The original "Star Wars"-trilogy is still better and I think Han Solo is also my favorite characters from all the movies. Of the three, the second one is the one I like the most.

"Apocalypse Now"
This is one of the best movies ever made and definitely in its genre. It's an absolute classic and Ford isn't even the most memorable aspect of the film.

"Raiders of the lost Ark"
Like I said in the beginning, Indiana Jones is my favorite movie character of all-time. This movie has so many great ingredients to be a good movie. Action, adventure, humor and romance. Ford does such a great job as Dr. Jones and he has great chemistry with Karen Allen.

"Blade Runner"
This is one of the best sci-fi movies made. And not because it's straight forward, it needs a thinking viewer. Then you appreciate it more. "Blade Runner" avoids the typical Hollywood style.

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"
The first one was better, but this one is far out the most entertaining of the series. I don't know, maybe it's the over-the-top part I like about it. When that creepy voodoo guy removes the heart and it's still beating and then followed by a great chase in miner carts. I like it!

"The Mosquito Coast"
I have only seen it once and I remember liking it very much. It's a while ago, so I will definitely rewatch it when I have the chance.

"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"
Same ingredients as the previous two. This quadrilogy is the only one I rank the way they were released, so this one comes third.

"Patriot Games"
Just a very good and solid action thriller. Not a movie you should watch over and over again, but very enjoyable to watch.

"The Fugitive"
This movie always gave me that feeling, that later on "Prison Break" gave me. You also feel like the hunted and this movie makes me nervous. It's very exciting.

"What Lies Beneath"
I saw it in the cinema and I thought it was pretty scary. Bathrooms were never the same again. Maybe the twist ending is a bit strange, bit I really liked the idea of the film and the suspense in it.

"Morning Glory"
I won tickets to go see this film and the main reason I wanted to see it was Rachel McAdams. Both Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford were great too and I really liked the way Ford portrayed his very grumpy and negative character. I enjoyed this movie very much.

I haven't seen "Cowboys and Alien" yet and I've read mixed reviews about the movie. But I really want to watch it some day.

Best of... Reese Witherspoon

Although I was never really a fan of Reese Witherspoon, I came to love her after seeing "Walk the Line". I like her more now and she did make some great movies through the years.

"Fear"
Her first big role, where she played a young girl who fell in love with Mark Wahlberg. He wasn't as sweet as he appeared. I admit that this isn't the best movie in the world, but very exciting and entertaining.

"Pleasantville"
At first I thought this was just a movie about two kids ending up in the TV world, but it had a far deeper meaning. It's a bit of a fairytale like story. Real good acting and the way it was filmed is just brilliant.

"Cruel Intentions"
A very intriguing story. It seems like another teen flick, but it goes further than that and goes beyond borders. It's about love, betrayal, seduction and deceit. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays the best part.

"Election"
"Election" is a very cynical comedy, just the way I like it. It's a modern day satire, very well performed by both Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon.

"American Psycho"
Probably the best one or her list. Christian Bale is responsible for making this film so fantastic. What I love the most is the ending, that you still don't really know if Patrick Bateman is a psycho or that it's just all in his head. Reese only has a minor role in it.

"Legally Blonde"
I didn't want to put it on this list, because I don't really love it that much. But "Legally Blonde" is just a no nonsense fun movie, a real no-brainer. And Reese is so over the top, she can totally get away with that.

"Sweet Home Alabama"
Just another romcom, I thought. But in this movie the girl doesn't go for the overall perfect and handsome man. No... she chooses the tough guy how does have flaws. Yes, not so cliché after all (maybe a little, because I could predict who she would end up with).

"Walk the Line"
Her best role so far and I don't know if she can ever top that. She played a fantastic role and she had perfect chemistry with Joaquin Phoenix. I love this movie, what a great story.

"Just Like Heaven"
I like this movie mostly because of Mark Ruffalo. He's so sweet, cute and charming in this movie. And he does look good together with Reese Witherspoon.

"Monsters Vs. Aliens"
I didn't think I would like it this much. It was a very funny animation and I especially loved Dr. Cockroach and B.O.B.

"Water for Elephants"
I have to admit that the books was really hard to top, so it was better than the movie. It did come close. I was sceptic about Robert Pattinson playing such a beloved character like Jacob, but he did a good job. Reese Witherspoon and especially Christoph Waltz did an even better job. While reading this book, I actually pictured Waltz as August and he wasn't even casted yet.

I can't wait to see "This Means War" where Tom Hardy and Chris Pine fight over Reese. Sounds awesome, trailer looked fun.
