5 Reasons why I love Modern Family

There are so many TV shows on right now, but how many of them are truly original? Not a lot. "Modern Family" is one of them and I'm a huge fan of the series. Here are five reasons why I love the show so much.

The characters
I don’t know where to start. All the characters are so unique but also very life-like. I think everyone can identify with one of the characters, because they are portrayed so real. Or you recognize elements from your own family life. I think Cameron is my favorite because he’s just so hilarious. Remember that scene from season 1, where he’s dressed as a clown and he has that giant clock in his pocket. I almost peed my pants. And Phil, trying too hard to be the cool dad. I think most people find him annoying, but I find him very funny. (WTF, that means Why that face…). And when he tries to lie, he just can’t do it. I like Claire, maybe because I recognize bits of her in me. I want to be in control sometimes. Gloria is fantastic, her spice and temperament. And Manny, such a sweet kid, who’s affraid of butterflies. Aaww. The karakters in the show are people you actually care about.

The writing
Very clever and fresh. The storylines are traditional, but the writers know how to re-use them in an original way, so it stays interesting and it never bores you. And the actors now their way around those themes. It's always a little bit different from how other shows do it and that's why this show is so unique.

The actors
They are all perfectly cast. Even the kids. Just perfect! I don't think it needs any explanation.

Family life
A lot of comedies have standard families with maybe one or two oddballs. But this family is everything BUT standard. That’s what I love, they dare to be different. This show has heart, the family has heart and they won mine over.

Mockumentary style
I like it in “The Office” but it also works for “Modern Family”. I like it when the characters talk to the camera. It’s so honest and real. You get to know the characters more and you have the feeling that you're a part of their life.

Confirmed: Rachel McAdams will be in Sherlock Holmes 2

It wasn't sure if Rachel McAdams would come back for the movie "Sherlock Holmes 2". They started filming in october 2010 so you'd think they would be a little bit more sure about their cast. Well now they do. I just read that Rachel will star in the sequel. YEAH!! Rachel will again appear as Irene Adler, the only woman that ever outsmarted Sherlock. She will only have a cameo, so she won't have a big role. But still, she's part of the project and that already excites me. She had such good chemistry with Robert Downey Jr. and I thought they made a great on screen duo. Or actually team, we can't forget about Jude Law. And here's a photo to prove that I'm not kidding. Together with director Guy Ritchie, on the set in France. The movie will come out in December 2011, so we have to wait a while. But I hope it'll be worth waiting for. Well, Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams are always worth waiting for ;) .

Movie Tip #46 - Scoop

Director: Woody Allen

Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Woody Allen, Hugh Jackman, Romola Garai, Ian McShane

Description: In the funeral of the famous British journalist Joe Strombel (Ian McShane), his colleagues and friends recall how obstinate he was while seeking for a scoop. Meanwhile the deceased Joe discloses the identity of the tarot card serial killer of London. He cheats the Reaper and appears to the American student of journalism Sondra Pransky (Scarlett Johansson), who is on the stage in the middle of a magic show of the magician Sidney Waterman (Woody Allen) in London, and tells her that the murderer is the aristocrat Peter Lyman (Hugh Jackman). Sondra drags Sid in her investigation, seeking for evidences that Peter is the killer. However, she falls in love with him and questions if Joe Strombel is right in his scoop.

Review: When I first read the plot of this film, I didn't really expect much. I'm not a Woody Allen fan and it seemed a little bit too standard. But this movie actually made me want to see more of Allen's work. I really enjoyed myself here. Scarlett was good, I liked her. I know a lot of people critisize her, but I always appreciated her work. She managed to lose her sexyness and be an avarage and spirited girl. The humour in "Scoop" was great and I loved Woody Allen in this film. He kinda made me nervous a little, but in a good way like Inspector Clouseau makes me nervous. And Hugh Jackman is charming as ever. "Scoop" has a nice light-hearted feel to it and is a very consistent. Johansson and Allen work great together. I think this movie was overlooked by many people and it's definitely worth watching, because you might like it.

I love this man. I don't know.... he is just so irresistible. I just want to watch everything he's in. Funny, charming, handsome and a brilliant actor. I loved him in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Sherlock Holmes" and I can't wait to see him in the second Sherlock film. I simply love this guy! Here are some of my favorite pictures of him.

Morning Glory

I got home early today, on wednesday I always work half a day. The doorbeel rang and I got a package. I didn't know what it was. When I opened it I saw that I won a prize... again! I won two tickets for the movie "Morning Glory", A "MG" nail file set, a "MG" bag hook (didn't figure out how to use it yet) and a "MG" shopper. Cool huh. I really wanted to see the movie, mostly because of Rachel McAdams. I love her. It also has Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Patrick Wilson in it. Soon I will go and see! I'm probably going with my friends Irene and Evelien. I only got two tickets, so we will have to split the costs of the third ticket. That will be a cheap cinema visit!!!

Comment: I was expecting a lot, because I heard a lot of good things about this book and its author John Green. Unfortunately I didn't feel the same way. I couldn't get into this book. I really wanted to like the book, but I just didn't. There wasn't a lot going on and I couldn't always keep my attention while reading this novel. The footnotes where fun in the beginning, but I stopped reading them after ten chapters. I did like Greens writing style, it's fresh and original and I also liked Colin's buddy Hassan. I did eventually finish it, but I was so disappointed. Maybe I should give Greens other novels a try and I will like them more. But this one just didn't do it for me.
