The English Teacher

Bears

Comment: My brother actually interviewed Alastair Fothergill, about his film "Chimpanzee". All Disneynature documentaries are fantastic, so I'm sure this will be too.

Top 5 Thursday: Characters from "The Walking Dead"

Yesterday I did a pic spam featuring one of the actors from this amazing show. Now I’m giving you my five favorite characters from “The Walking Dead”.

5. Rick Grimes
The leader of the group and that’s a big responsibility. But he’s doing an OK job so far. Rick would do anything for his family and the members of their group. I think it’s tough to stay sane in a situation like this, but Rick manages.

4. Glenn Rhee
He kind of reminds me of Hurley from “Lost”. A guy you just can’t hate, everybody likes him. And Glenn is very brave and honest.

3. Dale Horvath
Dale is a loyal and wise man. He’s the guy you can always rely on. I liked him in combination with Andrea. It really broke my heart when Dale died, I actually cried. He just wanted everybody to be save, instead he had to give is life for it.

2. Maggie Green
I liked her from the beginning. She is a tough girl and ver loyal to Glenn and all the other survivors in the group.

1. Daryl Dixon
Not at first, but Daryl grew on me somehow. I especially liked the part where he was trying to find Sophia. Daryl has a big mouth, but maybe even a bigger heart.

I'm really into "The Walking Dead" lately. Just watched the first two seasons on DVD and waiting for season 3 to come out on DVD too. I know the season finale of that season just aired a couple of days ago, so I'm a little behind. But I think this show is pretty awesome. And so is its leading actor Andrew Lincoln. I know him from "Love Actually" where he portrayed my favorite character. Here are some of his best pictures.

50 Books Challenge 2013 - # 11: The Hard Goodbye by Frank Miller (Sin City # 1)

A few hours later, Goldie's dead without a mark on her perfect body, and the cops are coming before anyone but Marv could know she's been killed. Somebody paid good money for this frame . . .

Comment: I couldn't have started this month better. My brother lend this book to me and when I started reading, I had to continue. Off course I saw the movie and this first story is featured in it. "The Hard Goodbye" is sort of a noir detective story, but with Marv as the 'detective'. He's the protagonist of the story. He's not superpowered, but takes an unrealistic amount of injury without dying, and does a few impossible things through sheer brute force and blind determination. And all for one reason: finding the killer of Goldie, the woman who gave him the night of his life. Frank Miller's style is fantastic. It's all in black and white, but there is so much detail in some drawings. You would think you need at least one other color to make it more detailed, but Miller did it his way. And I'm glad he did. It's absolutely sublime how he created this comic. Although this novel is extremely violent, it's a must for every graphic novel fan. Now I love the movie even more, because it stayed so closed to Miller's comic.

I made this picture last summer, on my trip to Uganda. These are the Murchison Falls, where the movie "The African Queen" was also filmed. It's a heavy spectacle when you're there. i saw it from different perspectives, but this pictures is perfect for this weeks theme.
