Another great LEGO video. This guys really has some extra time. He decided to create famous movie scenes with lego. It amazes me how great it looks and how detailed. I would love to do this myself, I am patienced, but not this patienced! And he has more of these!

 

 

Me & 3 Animal Movies

I love animals and there have been some great movies about animals. Some of those movies make that animal look bad, like “Jaws” or “King Kong”. Although I love those films, I chose movies which make the animals the stars of the show. Two movies, one documentary.

Life of Pi
Genre: Drama/ Fantasy/ Adventure

Description: A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.
Opinion: I fell in love with the book, so I was very curious how Ang Lee was going to make this into a movie. it visually looks amazing, great film. I love the scenes between Pi and Richard Parker.
Favorite character: Pi Patel
Most memorable quote: “I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.”. – Adult Pi Patel –
Best scene: Pi tells Richard Parker that they’re dying. He lays the tigers head in his lap.

Whale Rider
Genre: Drama

Description: A contemporary story of love, rejection and triumph as a young Maori girl fights to fulfill a destiny her grandfather refuses to recognize.
Opinion: This movie is so magical without being spectacular. What I mean is that not a lot of spectacular happens, but it keeps your attention at all times. It’s truly magnificent.
Favorite character: Paikea
Most memorable quote: “A long time ago, my ancestor Paikea came to this place on the back of a whale. Since then, in every generation of my family, the first born son has carried his name and became the leader of our tribe… until now.” – Paikea - Best scene: Paikea rides the whale.

De Nieuwe Wildernis

Description: The Oostvaardersplassen, a nature reserve of high standard in the Netherlands. The reserve has been developed in a location that 40 years ago was under sea level in one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Nowadays, its the stage for a unique nature show: the nature determines the rhythm.
Opinion: You see so many great animal and nature documentaries about Africa, North America, Australia, you name it. But this film shows that a beautiful place shouldn’t have to be far away. It was filmed in my country, the Netherlands. I never say I'm proud of being Dutch, but this documentary shows us the parts we should be very proud of. Beautifully filmed, bombastic music.
Favorite character: -
Most memorable quote: “This is our country, like you’ve never seen it before” – Narrator -
Best scene: A young horse befriends a robin. When he dies, the little bird pays a final visit those his friend.

DVD Collection Update (7)

It's been a while since I did a DVD Collection update. But it has been my birthday las week and I ran into some great bargains. So some great purchases.

I wanted to get this collection for a while and I was super cheap this time. So all the episodes from "Monty Pyhton's Flying Circus" in one DVD box. This is such intelligent humor!

I bought this movie after seeing "Elysium", because both movies were directed by Neil Blomkamp. And I just wanted to own this beautiful steelbook.





Sorry that I don't have a picture yet, because I lend the box to my brother, but I finally got season six of "Sons of Anarchy". It's one of my favorite shows of the moment.

How long have I been waiting for this? This book is amazing and I already saw the movie. The book is better, but I really loved "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close".

I'm most proud on this purchase. I walked passed this boxset so many times, but it was on sale and I just couldn't resist buying it. I love "Prison Break"> It Always made me nervous and I only watched the show once, so it's like experiencing for the first time all over again.

The next three Dvd's were gifts for my birthday. "Lady and the Tramp" is such an adorable movie. Eating spaghetti has never been the same.

And don't you just love "Up". Disney Always touches me right in the heart.

Both Disney Dvd's were from my brother and "Life of Pi" I got from my friends Irene and Evelien. I read the book, but haven't seen the movie yet. Very excited about it!

Comment: I heard so many good things about "Life of Pi". I found this book by accident at a bookmarket, for only 1 euro. Lucky me, because it's one of the most extraordinary books I have read. We follow the life of 15-year-old Pi, the son of a zookeeper. He survives a shipwreck. He thinks he's the only survivor but his lifeboat is occupied by a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, an injured zebra, a hyena, and an orangutan. I know that sounds stupid, but you can't even imagine how amazing the story is. The way the story is told is beautiful, I love Martel's writingstyle. He tells the story so vivdly. Some moments gave me goosebumps, like when he saw the whale. Or the terrible moment where he found his brother. Pi is a loveable character, there is really no way you can dislike this boy. And because there is only one character of real importance,there is enough room for character development and you really get to know Pi. I was so captivated by this book that I felt that I was on that boat with Pi. This is truly amazing, it won me over. "Life of Pi" is such a beautiful book that I can recommened to anyone.
