Me and 3 "Toy Story" Movies

I rewatched the complete “Toy Story” trilogy last weekend and it’s actually one of my favorites movie series of all time. It’s going to have another sequel in 2017, but for now it’s the perfect opportunity to use those three movies for this item.

Toy Story

Description: Cowboy doll Woody (Tom hanks) is profoundly threatened and jealous when the new spaceman figure Buzz (Tim Allen) supplants him as top toy in a boy's room.

Opinion: Groundbreaking at the time, because it was the first fully computer animated cartoon. It looks stunning and it gave us some of the greatest Disney characters of all time.

Favorite character: Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn)

Most memorable quote: “What if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection!” – Rex -

Best scene: The moment where Rex is trying to scare Woody, but he doesn’t seem impressed at all.

Toy Story 2

Description: When Woody (Tom Hanks) is stolen by a toy collector (Wayne Knight), Buzz (Tim Allen) and his friends vow to rescue him, but Woody finds the idea of immortality in a museum tempting.

Opinion: Another great adventure of our most beloved toys. Almost as great as the first movie.

Favorite character: Rex (Voiced by Wallace Shawn)

Most memorable quote: “How do you spell F.B.I.?” – Rex -

Best scene: That moment where Woody is fixed up by a toy maker.

Toy Story 3

Description: The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.

Opinion: Just when we thought Pixar made one sequel too many, they made “Toy Story 3”. And they also created some great, awesome and loveable new characters!

Favorite character: Rex (Voiced by Wallace Shawn)

Most memorable quote: “Oh yes! Return of the Astro-Nut!” – Hamm -

Best scene: That scene after the credits, where Mr. Pricklepants and one of the aliens are playing there version of Romeo and Juliet.

Top 5 Thursday: Movies from 1995

Seriously, this was the toughest year so far. There were so many wonderful movies made in 1995, some of my all-time favorites. But to rank time, almost impossible. I eventually managed, so here are my favourite movies of 1995.

5. Braveheart

This was in the time everyone still took Mel Gibson seriously. He’s so good in “Braveheart”. Haven’t seen it in a while, but it’s not a movie for just anytime. You really have to sit down and fully focus on “Braveheart”. Only then you get the full experience.

 

4. Toy Story

This was ground breaking, the first digitally made Disney movie. It looks amazing, with a perfectly voiced Woody and Buzz by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. It’s not my favourite in the series, but I love “Toy Story”.

 

3. Die Hard with a Vengeance

The best one in the series. I just love seeing Bruce Willis as John McClane (not in the fifth one though, I just pretend that was never made) and he is also one of my favourite movie characters of all-time.

 

2. The Usual Suspect

A movie with a fantastic ending. Even though I know how it ends now, that doesn’t make this movie any less exciting. But that climax is brilliant!

 

1. Se7en

This is definitely one of the best thrillers ever made. The concept, a guy killing by the seven deadly sins, is just genius. I have seen “Se7en” again recently and it still amazes me and manages to creep me out at the same time.

Top 5 Thursday: Characters from "Toy Story" series

"Toy Story" isn't just for kids!! I love it. And that's mainly because of its cute, funny, great and amazing characters. Here are my five favorites.

5. Buzz Lightyear
He's one of the two leading characters and in the beginning the most ignorant. Buzz really thinks he's an astronaut and not a toy. I liked him in the third installment, where he's set to Spanish mode.

4. Hamm
A talking piggy bank... Hamm is funny and knows much about the world outside. I like how he feels uncomfortable when his cork is out.

3. Aliëns
They are adorable. Especially when they see Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head as their parents. And how they say, ooooh.....

2. Mr. Potato Head
His humor is priceless and he can change his face in one second. And then I mean literaly change it. And the burrito version of him is also funny.

1. Rex
The number one was easy! Rex is such a loveable dino, although he is supposed to be a scary tyrannosaurus. He is constantly worried about the fact he isn't scary enough and that his arms are to short. We love his naive view on the world.

They almost made the top 5: Slinky, Weezy and Mr. Pricklepants.

Movie Moments: "Toy Story"

I recently shared my top five of favorite Pixar movies with you. "Toy Story" was also on that list and I picked the best moments from that movie. I'm planning to do that with all three the movies, but first "Toy Story".

Moment # 1: Opening
We meet Andy. He’s playing with his toys: Rex, Hamm, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky, but most of all Woody. His favorite toy who he spends most of his time with.

Moment # 2: Aaaargh!
Woody is looking for his sketch pad when all of a sudden Rex jumps out and roars at Woody. Rex wants to scare him, but it’s obviously not working. Sometimes he thinks he’s coming off as annoying but Rex just wants to be scary.

Moment # 3: Buzz Lightyear
Andy received his gift, but one present is still unknown. The other toys want to find out what Andy got for his birthday and they discover it’s a Buzz Lightyear doll. He thinks he really is Buzz Lightyear and doesn’t realize he’s just a toy. Everybody but Woody thinks Buzz is amazing.

Moment # 4: Woody and Buzz fight
While waiting in the car, Woody sees Buzz who he just pushed out of a window. Buzz is OK, but he’s mad at Woody for what he did. They start to fight and Andy and his family drive away and leave them behind.

Moment # 5: The claw
Buzz thinks he sees a spaceship at Pizza Planet and climbs in it. Woody follows him, but it’s just a grab machine filled with little alien toys. They tell Buzz and Woody that “the claw” is in charge and that if it grabs you, you’re the chosen one. Sid discovers that there’s a Buzz Lightyear doll in the machine and tries to grab it. He succeeds and also takes Woody.

Moment # 6: Buzz at the tea party
After Buzz realized that he’s not real, but a toy, Sid’s sister Hannah finds him and has a tea party with him, Woody distracts Hannah and tries to get Buzz out of there. Buzz is depressed and feels useless.

Moment # 7: Woody calls for help
Woody sees Hamm and Mr. Potato Head from Sid’s room. He calls them for help, but the other toys don’t want to save him because they still think Woody killed Buzz. When Woody tries to convince them that he and Buzz are friends now by using Buzz’ broken arm, they believe him. Until the toys see it’s just Buzz’ arm, they call him a murderer and Rex even throws up.

Moment # 8: Scaring Sid
Buzz is about to be blown up by Sid, so Woody and all of Sid’s weird toys decide to scare Sid. It works and they are able to free Buzz.

Moments # 9: The rocket
Woody and Buzz are trying to catch up with Andy’s moving truck and their toy friends. After trying a couple of times, they realize that Buzz still has a rocket strapped to himself. Woody lights it and they manage to get into the car with Andy and his family.

Moment # 10: Mrs. Potato Head
Andy and his family celebrate Christmas at their new house. The toys are anxious about the presents and listen to the walkie-talkie. Andy receives a Mrs. Potato Head which especially excites Mr. Potato Head. He says he has to shave and takes of his mustache.

Favorite Moment: Moment # 2: Aaaaargh!

Top 5 Thursday: Disney Pixar Movies

I love Disney and I LOVE Pixar. I simply can’t get enough of these movies and I love them all. Some more than other, so that’s why I’m sharing my top 5 with you this week. Here are my five favorite Pixar movies.

5. “Toy Story”
We meet all the characters we came to love so much. Woody, Buzz, Hamm, Slinky, Mr. Potato Head and Rex (my favorite). Toy Story is a completely unforgettable film for it’s fans. The way the two main characters are developed is amazing, though it mainly focuses on Buzz and Woody only, it’s what made the film so powerful, not to mention more entertaining.

4. “Finding Nemo”
This story is epic. A worried clownfish father looking for his son Nemo, who’s out there in the open ocean. Tuns of fantastic characters like Crush the turtle, Bruce the vegetarian shark and Nigel the pelican. But favorite is the forgetful fish Dory, who will never leave our memories.

3. “Toy Story 3”
All the characters from “Toy Story” have really grown on us. That’s maybe the reason why I loved this a little bit more than the other two movies in the series. And it introduces us to a bunch of new characters, with Mr. Pricklepants as my favorite. Usually movie sequels that come this far become a bit tawdry. “Toy Story 3” is the exception because it’s entertaining and loveable and it feels as magical as ever.

2. “Ratouille “
A story of a rat that dreams of becoming a cook. That idea alone is just brilliant and only Disney can get away with that. “Ratatouille” is so endearing and I love the connection between rat Remi and human Linguini.

1. “Monsters Inc.”
Monsters Inc. is a company that scares kids at night and they collect their screams in order to get power for the city. Sully is the main scarer and together with his partner Mike he has to deal with a child that entered their world. This is my favorite and I don’t know anyone who shares this love for “Monsters Inc.” with me. Maybe that makes me a bit strange too, like Mike and Sully.

They almost made the top 5: “The Incredibles”, “Toy Story 2”, “Wall-E” and “Up”.

Top 5 Thursday: Movie Trilogies

I thought this was going to be a walk in the park, but it wasn't. I realized a lot of good series aren't trilogies anymore. Like the "Indiana Jones" series or "Die Hard". I managed to make a top 5 and here it is.

5. “Toy Story”
When “Toy Story” came out in 1995, it was highly anticipated because it was the first fully computer animated film ever made. I was sceptic at first, because I loved the hand-drawn animation so much. But after seeing it I forget about it immediatly. “Toy Story” is in fact one of my favorite Disney movies. And all three are great. I can’t pick a favorite of the three. OK, probably the third.

4. “Back to the Future”
Time travel movies are always fun, but no one ever made a better one than Robert Zemeckis did. And with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd starring as two of cinemas most beloved movie characters. For some reason the second movie has always been my favorite, closely followed by the first.

3. “Bourne”-trilogy
I recently rewatched the complete series and I reminded myself of how good this trilogy is. Matt Damon is so good as Jason Bourne and all films are extremely exciting. The last one is my favorite, than the first and the second installment was my least favorite.

2. “The Godfather”
This series is epic. The first two are equally as good, though I do prefer the first because of Marlon Brando. And I also like the third, but even I see it didn’t fully live up to the standard of the previous two films. But all in all it’s a fabulous trilogy.

1. “Jurassic Park”
Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? And you don’t have to be a nerd because of it. “Jurassic Park” was such an experience for me when I saw it for the first time. I was nine and I was completely blown away by this great film. The second one was also amazing but I missed Sam Neill and I also really liked the third movie which brought Sam back. Just a great series and therefor my favorite.

They almost made the top 5: “Lord of the Rings”, “Spider-Man”, “X-Men” en “Ice Age”

In the Picture: The Characters from "Toy Story"

Disney movies are great, even when your getting older. Off course the handdrawn animated movies have more charm, but I came to love the Pixar movies. "Toy Story" is one of my favorites and here are all the important characters from the first installment.

Woody
Voiced by: Tom Hanks
Woody is Andy's favorite toy. He loves Andy with all his heart and he is devastaded when he finds out about his newest toy. Woody is a very jealous cowboy when he finds out that Andy is paying more attention to Buzz and he tries to do anything in his power to become Andy's number one again. Woody is a leader and someone others trust.

Buzz Lightyear
Voiced by: Tim Allen
Buzz is Andy's new favorite toy and he's loving it. He's a bit unwordly, he can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Buzz is a very confused astronaut after entering the world of Andy and his toys. But he means well. He just wants to fit in with the rest of the toys.

Rex
Voiced by: Wallace Shawn
Rex is an excitable, large, plastic Tyrannosaurus Rex. He's very curious, suffers from anxiety and is constantly concerned that he isn't scary enough. Rex is a loveable dinosaur, not very smart but big hearted and a true friend.

Hamm
Voiced by: John Ratzenberger
Hamm is a wise-cracking piggy bank and a realist. Out of all the toys he seems to have the most knowledge about the outside world.

Slinky Dog Voiced by: Jim Varney
Slinky is a dachshund with a metal slinky for a body and he's like every other dog: faithful to its owner. He's Woody's go-to-guy when he needs advice or an opinion.

Mr. Potato Head
Voiced by: Don Rickles
Mr. Potato Head is very moody and always sarcastic. With his many faces, he has a great sense of humour and only one wish: a Mrs. Potato Head for Andy's birthday.

Andy
Voiced by: John Morris
Andy is a kid like any other kid. Enthusiastic and thrilled for its new toys. He has always been very attached to his doll Woody, but even Andy needs a change once in a while. Buzz is that change. But he found a place in his heart for both Woody and Buzz.

Sid
Voiced by: Erik von Detten
Sid is the kid that lives next door to Andy and his family. He is the complete opposite, because he doesn't really take good care of his toys. He blows them up, disfigures them and reattaches other parts to different toys.

Bo Peep
Voiced by: Annie Potts
She herds sheep and is really sweet and pretty. Woody secretly likes her and blushes everytime he sees her. She's calm and loving but can also be daring and seductive.

Aliëns
Voiced by: Jeff Pidgeon
The cute three-eyed aliëns live in a claw game. Buzz hides in it when he thinks it's a spaceship and after he meets hundreds of them, the aliëns see him as their leader. They are very obedient.
