Top 5 Thursday: Revenge Movies

It’s all about revenge in this top 5. Okay, it’s better not that take revenge, but in movies it’s always so awesome. Here are my five favorite revenge movies.

5. V for Vendetta

Although V is called a terrorist, people who watch the movie all root for him. V is one of the coolest anti-heroes ever and “V for Vendetta” is super awesome.

 

 

4. Inglourious Basterds

Taking revenge on those Nazi bastards! That’s what this is about and you don’t feel sorry for them. Especially Shoshanna takes ultimate revenge.

 

 

3. Die Hard with a Vengeance

It’s in the title. Not very bright of ‘Simon’ to take revenge on John McClane. You just don’t f*** with McClane.

 

 

2. Léon

The most recent watch of this list. “Léon” is kick-ass and touching at the same time. A movie that I never get tired of.

 

 

1. Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2

This is my ultimate revenge film (I’m cheating a bit, but they are both awesome and technically they were meant to be one movie). The Bride is probably one of the best movie characters when it comes to taking revenge. And she saves the best for last…. Bill.

Top 5 Thursday: Bruce Willis Movies

People see Bruce Willis as an action star. He is, but he is so much more. Willis is actually one of my favorite actors and I’m always entertained by him. So I made a list of my favorite movies. This is the selection I eventually made. My five best Bruce Willis movies.

5. The Sixth Sense
Bruce Willis shows us he can be a dramatic actor as well. His performance is timid and subtle, he is a troubled man. And that ending, it really took my breath away and kept me thinking of it for days.

4. Moonrise Kingdom
Not your typical Bruce Willis movie, but maybe that’s why I like him in this movie so much. Wes Anderson really made another masterpiece with “Moonrise Kingdom”.

3. Die Hard with a Vengeance
This just has to be on the list. I think of all the “Die Hard” movies, this is the one I saw most often. I always watch it when it’s on. Bruce teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson, just so awesome!

2. Sin City
This movie really surprised me. I wasn’t into comic books at the time “Sin City” came out, but decided to watch it anyway. Now, it’s one of my favorite movies ever! It’s like the comic book comes to life, such an uniquely made movie.

1. Die Hard
Is this the most obvious choice? I think it is, but I really do love this movie. To me “Die Hard” is the definition of a good action movie, probably even the best action flick ever made. And John McClane is also one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

Top 5 Thursday: Movies from 1995

Seriously, this was the toughest year so far. There were so many wonderful movies made in 1995, some of my all-time favorites. But to rank time, almost impossible. I eventually managed, so here are my favourite movies of 1995.

5. Braveheart

This was in the time everyone still took Mel Gibson seriously. He’s so good in “Braveheart”. Haven’t seen it in a while, but it’s not a movie for just anytime. You really have to sit down and fully focus on “Braveheart”. Only then you get the full experience.

 

4. Toy Story

This was ground breaking, the first digitally made Disney movie. It looks amazing, with a perfectly voiced Woody and Buzz by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. It’s not my favourite in the series, but I love “Toy Story”.

 

3. Die Hard with a Vengeance

The best one in the series. I just love seeing Bruce Willis as John McClane (not in the fifth one though, I just pretend that was never made) and he is also one of my favourite movie characters of all-time.

 

2. The Usual Suspect

A movie with a fantastic ending. Even though I know how it ends now, that doesn’t make this movie any less exciting. But that climax is brilliant!

 

1. Se7en

This is definitely one of the best thrillers ever made. The concept, a guy killing by the seven deadly sins, is just genius. I have seen “Se7en” again recently and it still amazes me and manages to creep me out at the same time.

DVD Collection Update (5)

I bought five new movies. And I decided to b a little but more creative with the pictures.

I wanted this one for a very long time. I owned the first, second and fourth already, but "Die Hard with a Vengeance" has actually always been my favorite in the series.

With adding the third movie, I just went all the way and completed the collection. I know a lot of people say that "A Good Day to Die Hard" isn't that good, I only bought it too have the entire "Die Hard" series. That's also why I bought that last "Indiana Jones" film.

When I was rewatching "Drive" not so long ago, I realized there are so many great Ryan Gosling movies I still need to see. "Half Nelson" is one of them. The synopsis sounds great and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role.

"Whale Rider" is a movie that I saw once, but it left a very deep impression on me. It's a fantastic film, gorgeous, breathtaking. And a young girl like Keisha Castl-Hughes captivated me completely.

I heard so many great things about this movie. One tip was to keep tissues ready. It's a true story about the editor of the French Elle who, after a stroke, is fully paralized. He doesn't give up and tries to make something of his life. Can't wait t finally see this.

Movie Tip #20 - Die Hard with a Vengeance

Description: John McClane (Bruce Willis) is now almost a full-blown alcoholic and is suspended from the NYPD. But when a bomb goes off in the Bonwit Teller Department Store the police go insane trying to figure out what's going on. Soon, a man named Simon calls and asks for McClane. Simon tells Inspector Walter Cobb that McClane is going to play a game called "Simon Says". He says that McClane is going to do the tasks he assigns him. If not, he'll blow off another bomb. With the help of a Harlem electrician, John McClane must race all over New York trying to figure out the frustrating puzzles that the crafty terrorist gives him. But when a bomb goes off in a subway station right by the Federal Reserve things start to get heated up.

Review: It's my favourite Die Hard movie. And I just love John McClane. This is how an action movie should be. These days they don't make them this good anymore. I like Willis in his role and together with Samuel L Jackson he makes a great duo. The action blows your mind and it's very exciting to watch. Two hours pure entertainment. And the more he swears, drinks and smokes.... I still love John McClane.
