WEEK 28: A ROMANTIC MOVIE
Review: Sasha Tran and Marcus Kim spend a lot of time together in their youth Sasha’s parents are hardly ever home and she comes to Marcus’ parents almost every day. The two are inseparable and at one point even go a little further than friendship, but after a fight they lost sight of each other for 15 years. Sasha becomes a successful chef who gets a lot of media attention and is about to get married. When she temporarily moves back to her hometown of San Francisco, she meets Marcus again. He works with his father as a contractor and plays in a band. The meeting is uncomfortable, but the two see each other again and again.
“Always Be My Maybe” follows a pretty standard romcom template, but the way it’s all filled out makes this a very entertaining film. Randall Park and Ali Wong are very funny and have great chemistry. And I loved Keanu Reeves’ cameo, it was hilarious! You gotta love Keanu.
“Always Be My Maybe” might not be the most inventive romcom, but it’s definitely worth watching. Even if only for Reeves.
