Pearl Jam Rocks!!!

Sunday, june 27th, I went to Rockin' Park, with my brother Frank, my nephew Carlo and his girlfriend Charissa. It was a rock festival in Nijmegen. Acts were White Lies, Vampire Weekend, Ben Harper, Rise Against, Stereophonics and Amy McDonald. But the headliner was Pearl Jam. They were AWESOME!!!!! They had a great setlist. And they played "Given to Fly", my favorite Pearl Jam song.
It was a very hot day, but we had so much fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. Here are some pictures.

Amy McDonald, she was very good:

Women in Controle

If I could have a group of female celebrity friends, I could think of a lot of women. And every single one of them had their own role in the group, like in every other circle of friends. My friend group would be like this:

The Leader Cate Blanchett
The Girly Girl Sophia Bush
The Curvy Lady Eva Mendes
The Sweetheart Sandra Bullock
The Seductive One Angelina Jolie
The Sexy One Scarlett Johansson
The Nerd Ellen Page
The Funny One Kristin Wiig
The Prom Queen Rachel McAdams
The Sporty One Cameron Diaz
The Cutie Kristen Bell
The Girl Next Door Jennifer Aniston
The Mom Naomi Watts
The Natural Beauty Evangeline Lilly
The Kick Ass Chick Charlize Theron
The Smart One Natalie Portman
The Faithfull One Jennifer Connelly
The Serious One Emily Blunt

Great group of friends right? Well, I have great friends in real life. Irene and Evelien are everything you can wish for in friends! With Irene being the Jennifer Connelly/ Natalie Portman and Evelien being the Cameron Diaz/ Sandra Bullock. Me, I would be Kristin Wiig/ Jennifer Aniston.

Best of... Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler is one of the funniest actors ever. Most movie don't get that much credit, but I love 'em. Here are my favorites.

"The Wedding Singer"
My ultimate favorite Sandler film. It's set in the 80's and has great songs in it. Sung by Adam. Especially the one he wrote about his ex. The song he sings for Drew Barrymore is so super sweet. Who doesn't love Robbie Hart?

"Funny People"
A great combination of humor and a light form of drama. I really liked Adam in this film. Although he sometimes acts like a jerk, you sympathize him. And the part were he hears that song, that Seth Rogen downloaded for him, it was really touching.

"I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry"
I have to say that I didn't think much of it at first, but this movie made me laugh. Adam Sandler is great, but together with Kevin James he's even funnier. Who thought that could happen?

"Big Daddy"
This is one of the first Sandler films I saw. Adam plays daddy Sonny Koufax. I actually had a crush on him after seeing him in "Big Daddy".

"Punch- Drunk Love"
The first time we saw Adam in a serious role. I kinda felt sorry for him here. He's so endeering and sweet. But everyone thinks he's kinda crazy, when in real life he was actually a very smart and caring man. I liked this Adam.

"Billy Madison"
His childish aditutde kind of attracted me. He was so cute in this movie. He had to repeat all the grades in school, so he could take over his dads company. Silly story, but who cares? It's Adam Sandler!!!

"Anger Management"
The combo sounded strange: Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, that can't work. But it did. Goosefraba!

Pic Spam: Evangeline Lilly

"Lost" might be over, but we all still love the characters and actors from the show. Evangeline Lilly is one of those people that we're really going to miss. I hope she will star in big movies soon. She has the potential. But for now, here are some great photos.

Supporting movie characters that should have their own spin-off

You know those characters in movies, that are actually more interesting or funnier then the leading characters in a movie? Well, I know a couple and I would like to share them with you and tell you why I think they deserve their own movie.

- Scrat ("Ice Age"): How cute is he, with his acorn. I love Sid, Manfred and Diego, but Scrat is the one that makes you laugh every single time he appears on your screen.
Title suggestions for his movie: "Dude, where's my acorn?" or "Go nuts".

- Lance Brumbder ("Orange County"): I just adore this movie, but Jack Black steals the show with his weird alter ego Lance.
Title suggestions for his movie: "The Life of Lance" or "Got Piss?"

- Perry von Shrike a.k.a. Gay Perry ("Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang"): Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious in this movie, but we also love his sidekick Perry, played by Val Kilmer. I never thought that man could be this funny.
Title suggestions for his movie: "The Cop with his Faggot Gun" or "In Real Life This Job is Boring"

- Emily Chalton ("The Devil Wears Prada"): Everyone was so impressed with Meryl Streep, but she already impressed everyone around the globe. Emily Blunt was the one that caught my eye in this film.
Title suggestions for his movie: "Satan's little helper" or "Assisstant from Hell"

- Sgt. Dingham ("The Departed"): Great performance by former rapper Mark Wahlberg. Who would have thought. You don't wanna mess with him.
Title suggestions for his movie: "Dingham on Duty" or "The Guy Who Does the Job"

- Brick Tamland ("Anchorman"): No one can be that stupid, but boy do we love this dumb man.
Title suggestions for his movie: "I Love Lamp" or "Loud Noises"

- Mutt Williams ("Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"): This movie got a lot of negative respons. I liked it and Mutt was great.
Title suggestions for his movie: "Son of Indiana Jones" or "The Next Indiana Jones"

- Frank Ginsberg ("Little Miss Sunshine"): The suicidal and gay Frank. Not a fun character, but funny because he's so sad. I liked him from the beginning.
Title suggestions for his movie: "Who is Marcel Proust" or "Frantic Frank"

- Rex ("Toy Story"): Who doesn't love this dinosaur? Exactly...
Title suggestions for his movie: "Dinosaur Shaped Gifts" or "The Dinosaur that doesn't know how to spell F.B.I." (long movie titles are very hip right now)

Best of... Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Here are her best movies, according to me.

"Monster"
Her best role so far and she got a well deserved Academy Award for it. She looks awfull in this film, but that's her strength. She dares to look ugly for a role. That's a good actress!!

"North Country"
She also got an oscar nod for this role. She plays Josey Aimes, who works as a miner between only men. She experiences the hostile work environment and numerous and continuous insults and unwanted touching. You feel her sorrow, because she's so conving in her role.

"In te Valley of Elah"
Charlize plays a detective in this movie, who is trying to solve the disappearance of an army man. Strong, determined and trying to prove that a woman can do the job just as good as a man.

"Sweet November"
A lighter role, but such a sweet character Sara Deever is. Although most people dislike this film, it's one of my favorites in the genre.

"Reindeer Games"
Nothing is what it seems. That's the key to this movie. Theron plays her role very well and is the actual highlight of the film.

"Mighty Joe Young"
I love Charlize in this movie. Endeering, caring and free. And the story is just heartwarming. Kinda like a friendly version of "King Kong".

"The Devil's Advocate"
In the beginning of the film, her role isn't really that special. A loving wife who follows her husband to New York for a job as a hot shot lawyer. But then she breaks and her role is so emotionally convincing. Awesome!

"The Cider House Rules"
She impresses with her acting abilities. Again. Together with Michael Caine, she has the best role in this film. I think she was the reason I watched this in the first place, realizing that it was actually a good movie.

Best Movie Dads

Upcoming sunday, june 20th, it's fathersday. I though of a new list: best movie dads. It's not that easy when you start thinking about it. But I was able to make one. Here it is:

Daniel (Liam Neeson in "Love Actually"): He's actually a stepdad to Sam, because he had to take care of him after his wife died. They band when Sam tells Daniel he's in love. Together they try to win over the heart of the young girl.

Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds in "Definitely, Maybe"): Ryan looks convincing as a dad, when he tells his daughter Maya the story about how he met her mom. Great story, great dad!

Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle in "Hotel Rwanda"): He tries to keep his family save. that's what a good dad does.

Bob Parr/ Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson in "The Incredibles"): He's the head of a superhero family. Awesome right!!

Peter Mitchell, Michael Kellam and Jack Holden (Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson in "Three Men and a Baby"): Three single men, who live together, find a baby on the doorstep. She's actually Jack daughter, but the three of them decide to take care of her and raise her. How cool would it be to have them as dads, all three!

Ed Bloom (Albert Finney in "Big Fish"): He's a little strange, but he tells the best stories.

Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise in "War of the Worlds"): The end of the world is near, the earth is being attacked. Ray wasn't a father figure for his kids, but when he needed to, he did everything to keep his children save.

Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks in "Road to Perdition"): His wife and youngest son get killed. Michael flees with his other son, who finds out about his job as a hitman. Not a great rolemodel, but to protect his son he will do everything.

Marlin (Albert Brooks in "Finding Nemo"): Maybe a bit overprotective, but a real dad. He wants to find his son Nemo, whatever it takes.

Movie Tip #40 - Inglourious Basterds

Director: Quentin Tarantino

Starring: Brad Pitt, Eli roth, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Til Schweiger, Daniel Brühl

Description: In Nazi occupied France, young Jewish refugee Shosanna Dreyfus (Melanie Laurent) witnesses the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Narrowly escaping with her life, she plots her revenge several years later when German war hero Fredrick Zoller (Daniel Brühl) takes a rapid interest in her and arranges an illustrious movie premiere at the theater she now runs. With the promise of every major Nazi officer in attendance, the event catches the attention of the "Basterds", a group of Jewish-American guerilla soldiers led by the ruthless Lt. Aldo Raine (brad Pitt). As the relentless executioners advance and the conspiring young girl's plans are set in motion, their paths will cross for a fateful evening that will shake the very annals of history.

Review: Quentin Tarantino is one of the best directors in film history. He hasn't directed much, but when he does, it results in movies that we can (almost) call masterpieces. "Inglourious Basterds" is one of those films. He tells the story in a original way, like only he can. But this is the first time that the movie is fully chronological. There are some catchy flashbacks, like the one were Hugo Stiglitz is introduced. Great roles by Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Til Schweiger and Diane Kruger. The ones that impressed me the most were off course Christoph Waltz, who won an oscar for his performance. And well deserved, because he steals every scene he's in. The other actor that caught my eye was Melanie Laurent, another name that we didn't know. She plays Shoshanna and her role is very strong and convincing. I hope to see more of her in the future. This film is great, but the ending is a little bit over the top and to 'American'. And the way the basterds caught Landa, no way that would happen. Landa is way to vicious and smart for that. But even then, this movie is a great experience for the eye.

Rachel and Robert

Two of my favorite actors are Rachel McAdams and Robert Downey Jr. so I really loved it when they starred together in "Sherlock Holmes". Great chemistry they had! I recently saw the movie for the second time. I love that movie! So here's a dedication to those actors and to them working together.
