Movies that make me cry...

I don't often cry when I'm watching a movie, but sometimes I just can't help it. Here are my tearjerkers, and why (SPOILER ALERT!!!):

- E.T. Still, after all those years, that little alien can make me cry. When he tells Elliot "I'll be right here" and he points to his heart I just go boehoe.

- King Kong Wnen Kong is on the Empire State Building with Ann and he gets shot. It's too harsh! The last look he gives Ann before he falls of the building, just sad. I can't understand how someone can not cry.

- Hotel Rwanda It's a very touching story. When Paul has to stay at the hotel and he has to leave his wife and kids, that's a very emotional moment.

- Gorillas in the Mist The moment where Dian finds Diggit dead. I can hardly watch it, just awfull.

- Armegeddon The movie itself isn't really doing it for me, but when Bruce Willes' character dies at the end and you see Liv Tyler wathcing the screens and she starts crying. Yep, so do I.

- Love Actually The scene with the kid and him running through the airport for the girl. That's just so heartwarming that it makes me wheep.

- The Shawshank Redemption It's my favourite movie, but the end is great. When Red finally gets to see Andy again... those are tears of joy!

- Brokeback Mountain At the end when Ennis looks at Jack's blouse and says "Jack, I swear...." I really don't know why, but there I go again.

- Marley & Me The most recent film that made me cry. But come on, it's suppposed to be a comedy. It's a real sad ending. But a great movie really!

- The Green Mile The moment where John Coffey is executed, it's just heartbreaking!

I'm sure there are more movies, but these are the once that came to my mind thinking of this subject. Well, try them and see it the same thing happens to you, haha...

Movie Tip #21 - Lost in Translation

Director: Sofia Coppola

Starring: Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Giovanni Ribisi, Anna Faris

Description: Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is an American film actor, far past his prime. He visits Tokyo to appear in commercials, and he meets Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), the young wife of a visiting photographer. Bored and weary, Bob and Charlotte make ideal if improbable traveling companions. Charlotte is looking for "her place in life," and Bob is tolerating a mediocre stateside marriage. Both separately and together, they live the experience of the American in Tokyo. Bob and Charlotte suffer both confusion and hilarity due to the cultural and language differences between themselves and the Japanese. As the relationship between Bob and Charlotte deepens, they come to the realization that their visits to Japan, and one another, must soon end. Or must they?

Review: Sometimes the most simple stories make the best films. This movie is the example. However Bob and Charlotte are in the bussiest city on the planet, they feel alone. An uncommon but beautiful friendship arises from their meeting. One reason why I love this movie is because it's so realistic. The characters are so real and it's easy to identify yourself with them. Another thing was the acting. Bill Murray at his best and Scarlett Johansson has won over my heart with this film. The movie is not cliché or sentimentel, it's just honest. I can watch it over and over again!

CSI Movie

I read an article about CSI. There is going to be a CSI movie!!! At least according to William Petersen. I sounds exciting, but I don't know if it's a great idea. A lot of show do it these days, maybe it's not original enough. On the other hand: I really don't care what the other show do. CSI is going to the big screen!!!! A full lenght movie, two hours of CSI ( which also means two hours of Nick Stokes), it's just wonderfull. I'm curious about some things:
- Are Grissom and Sara going to be in it?
- What kind of case are they trying to solve?
- Is the story getting more personal?
- Are all the characters getting the same screen time?
We just have to wait (that's pretty hard!!!). I have time enough to find someone who wants to see it with me, when it hits theatres. My family and friends aren't fans you know.

Lights, Camera, Action!!!

Last saturday (April 18th) me and my friends Irene and Evelien went to Movie Park Germany. Lots of rollercoaster, shows and other exciting attractions. The first ride we went on was a free fall. Irene and I tought it would be fun. 60 metres high and then the drop us like it's nothing. And next was a very cool rollercoaster, where your legs were hanging. Very cool!!!! The Shrek 4D show was great and so was the crazy action stunt show (we saw that one twice). The last one is kinda fake, because the picked a girl from the audience to play along. But the second time we went to see the show, they picked the same girl. But it was fun anyway. We had a great time, had a lot of fun and we are looking forward to our next trip. Oh, here are some photo's:

Movie Tip #20 - Die Hard with a Vengeance

Director: John McTiernan

Starring: Bruce Willis, Jeremy Irons, Samuel L. Jackson, Graham Greene

Description: John McClane (Bruce Willis) is now almost a full-blown alcoholic and is suspended from the NYPD. But when a bomb goes off in the Bonwit Teller Department Store the police go insane trying to figure out what's going on. Soon, a man named Simon calls and asks for McClane. Simon tells Inspector Walter Cobb that McClane is going to play a game called "Simon Says". He says that McClane is going to do the tasks he assigns him. If not, he'll blow off another bomb. With the help of a Harlem electrician, John McClane must race all over New York trying to figure out the frustrating puzzles that the crafty terrorist gives him. But when a bomb goes off in a subway station right by the Federal Reserve things start to get heated up.

Review: It's my favourite Die Hard movie. And I just love John McClane. This is how an action movie should be. These days they don't make them this good anymore. I like Willis in his role and together with Samuel L Jackson he makes a great duo. The action blows your mind and it's very exciting to watch. Two hours pure entertainment. And the more he swears, drinks and smokes.... I still love John McClane.

CSI on my desktop

Jensen Ackles was on my last wallpaper. I didn't get sick of him, if you think that, but sometimes you need a fresh wallie on your desktop. So this time I created one of my favourite TV show: "CSI". Here it is.

I put in all the main characters, even the ones that have already left the show. I didn't include Brass and Robbins tough. I really don't have a good explanation for that. Anyway, hope you like it...

Movie Tip #19 - Gorillas in the Mist

Director: Michael Apted

Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Bryan Brown

Description: It's the true story about Dian Fossey, her study of gorillas and her efforts to stop the decimation of the endangered apes.

Review: How simply amazing must it be to touch, play and hold hands with a silverback Gorilla in the wilds of Africa? How would it feel to find that same silverback with his head, hands and feet cut off by poachers? To be frank, these gorillas were Dian Fossey's children - each had a name, each had their own unique trait - so it is hardly surprising that she became a little possessive and started treating the animals as her own. The horrors that she experienced on those mountains would send me mad as well. Sigourney Weaver is simply superb as Fossey, portraying her hard work and gradual decline into insanity with that touch that only a few actresses possess. It's a true inspiring story, I really admire Dian Fossey.

Great New Sit-Com

Have you ever seen "Gary Unmarried"? It's a new sit-com starring Jay Mohr as Gary Brooks. He just got divorced from Allison and together they have two kids, Louise and Tom. His ex-wife allready moved on and has a fiance, Walter, who was their marriage counselor.
The show is hilarious and Gary is sooooo funny. Especially the old-man jokes he makes towards Walter. With so much junk on TV these days it was about time that we got a good new sit-com. This one just cracks me up, every single time. I just laugh out loud, very loud. I also love Tom, such a funny character. Just like his 'dad'. I hope that, if I have a son in the future, he will turn out like Tom ;) . Allison, Walter, Dennis and Louise are also funny in their own way. This is just a great show, I absolutely LOVE it!!!.
"Gary Unmarried" is a show worth watching and a half hour full of humour. Give it a try.

Movie Tip #18 - Brokeback Mountain

Director: Ang Lee

Starring: Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, Randy Quaid, Linda Cardellini, Anna Faris, Kate Mara

Description: In the Summer of 1963 Wyoming, two young men, Ennis (Heath Ledger) a ranch hand and Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) an aspiring rodeo bull rider, are sent to work together herding sheep on Brokeback Mountain, and what had otherwise been anticipated to be a rather uneventful venture, will soon turn into an affair of love, of lust, and complications that will spand through 19 years of their lives. Through marriage, through children, and through the mighty grip of societal confines and the expectations of what it is to be a man.

Review: It's a love story that starts out without love and finishes with a love that never ends. "Brokeback Mountain" is so much more than merely a "gay cowboy movie". It perfectly captures what true, unbridled love is all about and this love transcends any issues of sexuality or gender.Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall are magnificent and if not for them, I think this film would have been a massive disappointment. Instead just thinking of Ennis and Jack's stolen embrace and kiss in broad daylight after being apart for four years is enough to make my heart skip a beat and my stomach lurch. Everything about that scene is perfect. This movie is perfect. It's just a wonderfull movie, that I can watch over and over again.

April's Fool

I had the best April's fool joke today. As you know, I'm a teacher. I told the kids in my class that they had three tests today. I wrote it on the board, all the kids were mad and they didn't like it at all. So the kids started with the math test, which was actually planned today. So after the test we would start the next one, but I started a biology lesson. All the children said: "I thought we had to do another test?" Then I said: "What day is it today?" And then they got it.... April's fool. I can't believe they fell for that. They tried to fool me all day, but I WAS prepared. Good one huh...
