Movie Moments: "Happy-Go-Lucky"

This is such a feel-good movie, the Brittisch sister of “Amélie”. Today I just felt like rewatching it and sharing my favorite moments with you.

Moment # 1: Bookstore
Poppy visits a bookstore she’s never been to before. She is trying to make conversation with the salesman, but he’s not very talkative.

Moment # 2: Making birds
Poppy and her friend and colleague Zoë are making birds out of paper bags, with their classes.

Moment # 3: Poppy’s first lesson
After Poppy’s bike was stolen she decides to take driving lessons. Her instructor, Scott, is not as jolly as her and Poppy doesn’t really take him seriously.

Moment # 4: Flamenco
Poppy joins a colleague who is taking a flamenco class. It doesn’t really go smoothly.

Moment # 5: Tim the social worker
Poppy asks a social worker, Tim, for help with one of her students who’s been very violent lately. Together they are trying to find out why. Tim is very interested in Poppy as well.

Moment # 6: Date
Poppy goes on her first date with Tim. They really get along and they end up at Tim’s house.

Moment # 7: Scott’s rage
Another driving lesson for Poppy, but this time Scott isn’t in for her jokes anymore. He’s mad and he tells her exactly why.

Favorite Moment: Moment # 2 : Making birds

50 Books Challenge 2013 - 34: Hannibal by Thomas Harris (Hannibal Lecter # 3)

Title: Hannibal(Hannibal Lecter # 3)
Author: Thomas Harris
Story: Seven years have passed since Dr. Lecter escaped from custody. And for seven years he's been at large, free to savor the scents, the essences, of an unguarded world. But intruders have entered Dr. Lecter's sanctuary, piercing his new identity, sensing the evil that surrounds him. For the multimillionaire Hannibal left maimed, for a corrupt Italian policeman. and for FBI agent Clarice Starling, who once stood before Lecter and who has never been the same, the hunt for Hannibal Lecter has begun. All of them, in their separate ways, want to find Dr. Lecter. And all three will get their wish. But only one will live long enough to savor the reward.
Start: september 23rd 2013
End: september 28th 2013
Comment: Of all the books in this series, this was the one I was least looking forward to. And, so far, this is the one I like the least. I did enjoy it to some point, but I just didn't like the ending. I know that no one expected this, because it is surprising. For me it's a bit unbelievable. I was sorry to see Clarice Starling come to such a sorry end. The character Mason Verger was a revolting and fascinating villain. I easily was more sympathetic toward Dr Lecter. There was lots of Harris's trademark detail and atmosphere and that's what I liked. I just did't enjoy this book as much as the previews two.

Top 5 Thursday: Female TV Characters of the Moment

I like a strong leading character in a TV show, but mostly it’s the guys. Really? I found some great women who shine between all those guys. These are the female characters I love the most at the moment.

5. Deb Morgan in “Dexter”
I started to follow this show recently, but I still need to rewatch the entire series sometime. Deb is great, although she has some issues.

4. Tara Knowles in “Sons of Anarchy”
Tara really transformed in this show. She is really part of the club now and sometimes she even handles things the Gemma-way.

3. Maggie Greene in “The Walking Dead”
I liked her from the beginning. She lost a lot of her loved ones, but she learned how to deal with it and how to kick ass!

2. Morgan Brody in “CSI”
Morgan had a guest appearance once and when I heard she was getting a regular role I was excited. I like her, she is a great addition to the team and she’s very smart.

1. Claire Dunphy in “Modern Family”
I don’t like to admit it, but sometimes I’m a little bit like Claire. Maybe that’s why I love her so much. Claire is a hands-on mom and she likes to have control. And although Phil is a bit of a cluts, she loves him unconditionally.

They Almost Made the Top 5: Gloria Pritchett in “Modern Family”, Julie Finlay in “CSI”, Meredith Grey in “Grey’s Anatomy”

50 Books Challenge 2013 - # 33: The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris (Hannibal Lecter # 2)

Title: The Silence of the Lambs(Hannibal Lecter # 2)
Author: Thomas Harris
Story: There's a killer on the loose who knows that beauty is only skin deep, and a trainee investigator who's trying to save her own hide. The only man that can help is locked in an asylum. But he's willing to put a brave face on - if it will help him escape.
Start: September 10th 2013
End: September 22nd 2013
Comment: This is the perfect book when it's raining outside, you got the lights on in your house and you're curled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea. This book is chillingly creepy. Hannibal Lecter is one of the scariest villains even created, but I thin Buffalo Bill is even creepier. His whole act and attitude is freaking me out. Clarice Starling is a strong female character, someone you can easily sympathize with and relate to. You feel her fear and strength. The dialogues between her and Hannibal are the strongest bits in the book. They captivate you from beginning to end. It's a fantastic book and now I think te movie is pretty true to it. Great read!

Top 5 Thursday: Sexiest Men on TV of the Moment

If I had to do a list of TV actors of all-time it probably has to be a top 100, because a top 5 of 2013 was already hard enough. Here is my choice of sexiest men on TV 2013.

5. Andrew Lincoln (“The Walking Dead”)
He’s not my favourite character, but I think he’s slightly more attractive then Norman Reedus. I already loved this guy in “Love Actually”, where he melted my heart…

4. Ian Somerhalder (“The Vampire Diaries”)
Although I stopped watching this show, I remember why I started to watch it in the first place. Ian Somerhalder hypnotizes you with his handsomeness.

3. Theo Rossi (“Sons of Anarchy”)
What can I say, his character Juice isn’t the brightest star but he’s definitely great for the female eye. I can understand why his nickname on the show is Juice. I started to like him as a character as well, he’s my second favorite.

2. George Eads (“CSI")
Still staying strong after thirteen seasons of my favourite show “CSI” and about to kick of the 14th season! I love his Texas charm.

1. Jensen Ackles (“Supernatural")
Frequent readers of my blog probably predicted this. Jensen Ackles is still on TV and he’s the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. He’s perfect in every way.

They Almost Made the Top 5: Alex O’Loughlin in “Hawaii Five-O”, Norman Reedus in “The Walking Dead”, Charlie Hunnam in “Sons of Anarchy”, Jesse Williams in “Grey’s Anatomy”

Weekly Photo Challenge 2013 - Theme # 37: Creative

Here is this weeks theme.

I'm all about creativity. I love being creative with paper, photos, words, colors, letters, stickers, tape, paint, pencils, you name it.... I actually made this creation for a challenge. I didn't win, that sucked because I put a lot of work into it. But then again, I love being creative and that's the important part.
