Description: Two sisters
(Mandy Moore, Claire Holt) vacationing in Mexico are trapped in a shark cage at
the bottom of the ocean. With less than an hour of oxygen left and great white
sharks circling nearby, they must fight to survive.
Review: Sisters Lisa and Kate go diving in a cage to see great white sharks. After
an accident, the cage ends up dropping underwater at 47 meters deep. With only
an hour left of oxygen and sharks all over the place, they have to try and
survive.
When it comes to shark
movies, there is only a hand full of films that are actually good. And “47
Meters Down” doesn’t belong in that small group. First off, we know almost
nothing about the two sisters. Lisa just got out of a relationship and Kate of
the fun party girl. While vacationing in Mexico, they decide to go cage diving,
with two guys they just met. When they arrive at the boat, the immediately start
doubting and believe it’s shady. And everything they see should set off all
alarm bells. But still they go into the cage.
Besides Kate and Lisa, there
are a few characters whose name you forget almost instantly.
When it comes to the story
itself, it’s very predictable. And it’s very repetitive and messy. With all
that, the film contains a hilariously bad plot twist that I saw coming from
miles away.
“47 Meters Down” is really
not a good movie, hardly exciting and I always love watching shark movies.
