I WATCHED THIS MOVIE FOR MY 2021 MOVIE CHALLENGE.
WEEK 16: A MOVIE THAT WAS NOMINATED FO AN OSCAR, BUT DIDN’T WIN

Review: The film tells the true story of Jake La Motta, a very aggressive boxer who triumphs in the ring but ultimately falls victim to paranoia, jealousy, rage and gluttony. The film follows the course of La Motta’s life and show how evolves from a celebrated champion to an overweight self-proclaimed comedian.
For Joe Pesci, the film marked his big break and as La Motta’s brother Joey, he perfectly complements the counterpart. Cathy Moriarty is also excellent as Jake’s second wife Vickie, wo has to face her husband’s infernal jealousy and rage. Both actors were nominated for an Oscar for their roles.
Robert De Niro, who play the main character Jake La Motta, was the only one to take home an Oscar for his role. And well-deserved. His intense performance is sublime and one of the best in movie history. “Raging Bull” itself didn’t win, which I can’t understand. Because it is a masterpiece not to be missed. And I’m quite ashamed it took me so long to see it for the first time.
